Eating...........anyone do it right before bed? Is it benefitial? Harmful? I wake up feeling bloated......I have a huge shake, some veggies and peanuts and then zonk out 10 minutes later.....bad choice?

great question... How many calories should your pre sleep meail be.. I usually go with two scoops of casein and two tablespoons of flax before bed - that might be too many calories..

2 many calories?? Man, I really slam.....that's my problem.....veggies up the arsh.....huge shake and tons of peanuts.....well, prob. add up to your calories since you are taking in mostly fat......any ideas?

I try to eat protein and fat right before bed 'cause I've read on the boards that it fights catabolism during sleep, usually a chicken breast and some ANPB or casein shake and ANPB. Sometimes, though, I wake up not feeling hungry and it makes it tough to get my first meal in.

I would also like to know if this is a bad idea.

I am cutting (approx. 8wks in).
My schedule allows for me to train then eat then sleep(soon after). I would say that meal before bed is my highest in calories of all my meals. It works for me. I have lost much fat on this diet (Thanks ~SC~). On non-training days I drink a shake right before bed(no carbs/fats though).

Jkurz, I would say you may be eating too much just before bed. I try to avoid carbs after a certain hour as well. Not sure if veggies would be the best choice just before bed. I eat a can of tuna mixed with cottage cheese. As someone above mentioned, casein protein (from the cottage cheese) is absorbed more slowly and will help discourage catabolism. I'm cutting right now, so my calories are pretty low and this is a concern for me.

but then some say they eat a ton and it doesn't matter.......what would you suggest.....just the shake and a few handfuls of peanuts? What about a shake, a low carb bar and some peanuts????????
