Hey Britts, for some reason it seems that most of the time these "assisted" machines actually retard strength and growth. Possibly try doing megative only pull ups untill you can get to a reg pullup. Or do as much of a pullup as you can and then do reps of that. Like if you can a half pullup then do reps of half pullups. As you do these then each time you come back to this workout really work on getting closer to a full pullup.
If you do the negatives, then you really really have to fight that going down to get the bene from them. I mean fight every inch of it chika.
Actually by doing either of theses or a combo of them you will get to a full pull up in not time at all.
