1700cal for 160lbs male? Too high

I have been trying to lose fat since several months (should I say years). In 1998, I was about 12% bf.Now I am 10% (160lbs). How frustrating!
Of course I haven't been dieting for 3 years. But I tried several cal amounts and each time I am disappointed and give up. No yo-yo syndrome. I don't gain fat, I just can't lose it.

My everyday cal expenditure (without working out or cardio) is 2200 cal.
Last time I dieted, I ate about 1700cal (45 g 35p15f) with one or two cheat days a week. I also tried lowering the carbs but I find it emotionally very hard.
T3 level is ok.

I was also working out (1H 3X a week) and cardio (20 min a day).
Even at 1700 cal, I feel quite tired, midly depressed and look exhausted (people told me). I don't go under 1700cal cause I would really feel like shit.

How could I be eating too much If I already feel so tired on a 1700 cal diet?
For sure I tried 2000 cal diet but I was losing fat so slowly.
What Could I do wrong?

At 160lbs and your activity rate, I say your AMR is 2500.
On training days eat about 2100, while on non training days you could keep at 1700. Up the morning cardio to 45 mins, and add a cardio session after everyworkout (20 mins) except leg day.

Dude your metabolism is messed up, way down. I lift 3 or 4 times a week, do about 15 min of cardio if I can get motivated to, and still drop around 3 or 4 lb a week eating between 1800 to 2300 cals. Try ckd its a great diet. Btw I've got about 160 lbs of lean body mass also. Do some big eating and training for a couple weeks/month or so to get your metabolism back up.

Messed up metabolism?

After several weeks during my last try, I checked my temperature, it was under 96.8, sometimes 96.2. Seeing that and trying to be logical, I might conclude that my metabolism had slowed. But How come it slowed despite the fact thay I did not lose more than 2 lbs of fat in a month.

There may be some sort of voodoo spell on me. :confused:
 
Try this, eat big for a week like 3500+ cals, or at least 3000. Keep it healthy fats like flax, high protien. Shouldn't put on much fat if any as long as you train HARD. Then after that week if you haven't picked up fat, bump it up another 300 cals or so. Then start your diet. I've found this to give my metabolism a nice lil kick
 
I'll echo blood_drinker:

Eat more, and do 2 days of cheating.

You need to "cheat" for two day, for this will replenish leptin levels and put your body into homeostasis.

160lbs x 12=1920cal. a day....just round it off, 2000cal a day (at least)

Agreed, you also need to cheat a little while on Keto or you'll go postal and jump in front of a semi
 
Try starting with an hour of cardio in the morning 4 days a week, 5 days lifting, and eat sensibly without worrying about overall calories- just how you feel.
