Is it okay to eat whatever you feel like...

Is it okay to eat whatever the hell you want while bulking? I'm skinny as shit (145 pounds) and trying to get about 185 then start watching my diet and cardio to get cut, but anyway, Is it okay to eat like donuts, pizza, big macs, all that fattening food to get enough thickness on your body?

Along with all the fattening food I eat, I also intake about 80-130 grams of protein a day (from milk, protein powder, bread, steak, chicken, sausage, egg, etc) and a LOT of carbs (2 cups of steamed rice, 8 slices of bread, noodles, pot pie, etc) I also work out my upper body every sundays.

Those foods eaten with consistency will definitely make you FATTER. The kind of mass you're looking for is muscle mass, not fat mass. Given, along with nearly all bulking cycles there is going to be a certain amount of fat one accumulates but the amount depends on your eating. If you do the See-Food Diet you're bound to accumulate more than you'd like not to mention you would probably overlook better food choices that are more conducive to muscle growth.

You need to focus on some protein source at each meal, I would say about 20 grams per meal broken down into 8 meals over the day for your current bodyweight. Good sources are chicken breasts, lean beef, tuna, occassionally a shake.

I believe that the John Berardi's Massive Eating is physiologically sound and in this method the key is to keep carbs and fat separate. Therefore, meals are either protein+fat and protein+carb. You really want most of your carbs around your workout, some before, most after.

I would suggest you read Massive Eating Reloaded at www.t-nation.com
It will give you some guidance as to what foods to eat.

Now with all that said, if you just want to get big, Go eat whatever the fuck you want, but if you'd like to do this on a more controlled method and get better muscle gains consider trying a more exact regimen.

if you want to put on 40lbs of fat and water then sure, bring it on. Donuts are the ultimate bulking food :)

dont eat like that unless you're running/wasting a massive cycle and have some awesome genetics or you'll end up looking like 185lbs of shit

250g's protien would be more like it

Tweakle: Isn't 250 a bit overkill at his current weight. He is only 145 lbs and that isnt even all LBM. All the current literature points to 1 g/LBM or 1g/BW to be a little easier. 160 grams is even over that number but 20 grams per meal is easy to handle. Anything more than 1 gram cannot be assimilated efficiently unless one is using AS.

But I agree with you on him becoming a fat bastard if he eats like that.

There isn't much food laying around other then junk food like potato chips and donuts, etc. So if I refrain myself from eating that, I would only have about 2-3 meals a day where as having that as snacks... But doesn't fat turn into muscle when you work out? I'm sure that if I ate right and started to lift I would only get "cut" but my goal is to be very thick and for my height 6'2" I look like a skeleton and need the meat to even out my body. But I do eat a lot of carbs per day every day and I am only getting fat on my belly area, my chest is flat and my arms are skinny, the only part that seems to be growing is my belly.

Good bulking diets are just as important as good cutting diets. Often they're just as hard (if not harder) to get the results you want, which is usually LBM with minimal gains in bf.

Big bear layed it out real nice.

Id add, or second that, you dont want to base a significant portion of ur daily intake on SHIT FOOD. Given the advantage(or disadvantage) that ur slim (hard gainer tho not necesarliy) you CAN eat a little sloppier than many of us but like Bear pointed out, your overlooking better nutrients that are more helpful in you obtaining your goals.

Eat lots of rice, pasta, potatoes, bread, (even pop tarts post workout), tuna, protein powders, reduced milk, eggs, meat, chiken, cereals, ur dog, ur cat, etc.

No, fat doesn't "turn into muscle" when you work out.....Fat is fat & muscle is muscle, different types of tissue....but by increasing your muscle you can lose fat....

Eating crap food is unhealthy no matter what your goals.....and being busy is no excuse to eat poorly...plan ahead & carry a cooler...
