i agree carbs are not the enemy...but when i eat carbs in that quantity late at night...i am def not as tight the next day then i am when my last meal is sans carbs. there are def 2 sides of this debate...
tight?? are you going on stage or trying to build mass?

exactly..being tight is just because your body is more carb depleted..as soon as you eat your breakfast you aren't as tight either. Should we avoid carbs at breakfast as well?

i don't eat carbs at night when im cutting either, just because i know i don't need them..but if you are working out at night it is essential to get the carbs back in, imo.

i'm always in stage...

carbs are for energy...and i don't need energy at 9:30 at night. this is why i eat them at specific times. if he lifts late then yes...he needs to get those carbs in pwo...but an hour after that...if your cutting ...you should be eating protein + fat and 0 carbs!

poysyn- there is a huge difference in eating a bowl of pasta before bed and eating one in the am when you wake. those carbs get stored away as fat and not utilized as energy...you know this

Why is everyone always so stuck on a specific time of day NOT to eat carbs?

If you lift at 9PM, you NEED carbs after your workout, plain and simple. The key is not overeating carbs at that time, and eating the right kind of carbohydrate.

I lift at night, do the carb/protein thing immediately post workout, and again hour and a half or so later, but this time with a low GI carb, like basmati rice, whole wheat pasta, or sweet potatoes.

If I get my workout in a little earlier in the day, then I shift a protein fat only meal to before bed, after my 2 standard post workout meals. For me, it's all about what time I lift, not what time it says on the clock.
