How Bad Is Milk For You?

I drink around 3 gallons a week. 1 Gallon of whole and 2 of skim. It doesn't make ME fat. Infact for me it has the PERFECT Carb to Protein Ratio 60% to 40%. I heard a report yesterday on NPR that dairy actually aids in weight loss. It had something to do with Calcium and the other nutrients it carries.....and no you can't take Ca supps. and expect to loose fat.

Yep, only humans and pretty much any animal you care to offer the stuff to.

I think that we consume milk is more an attribute of social and technological progression (or regression if you think it's bad) than natural evolution.

I don't know about you, but my cat loves cows milk...

Most of the time milk gets a bad rap from all the lactards out there. In all, its been proven to be one of the best muscle builders of our time. It's economical and is low in the glycemic index (its sugar wont make you fat!). What more do you want?

It made us grow as babies why wouldn't it do the same now?

That's the point we no longer need it ... we're not babies.

Sure your cat or your dog will drink cow's milk if you pour it in a bowl ... they'll also drink coke and beer ... doesn't mean it's good for you.

Seems like you completely missed the point of that statement. You also took vitamins as a baby, didnt you? Well your big now so maybe you should stop taking them...

I'm negating the claim that "we're the only animal to drink another species milk." I personally don't care if my cat drinks coke or beer... kind of irrelavent. Interested to see a response how milk isn't good for me.

But even if we are one of the few (not only) species to consume anothers milk, why not acknowledge the fact that we're the only species to, lets say, cook our own food, mass produce... etc. A lot of things we as humans do is unnatural, AAS is one of them.

One important thing to remember when reviewing the scientific literature is that the study of dairy science is literally big business. Not just in regard to the milk itself but the levels of price support, other subsidies, etc. People with academic credentials have gone to extremes on either side of this issue you wouldn't believe unless you realize who exactly is paying for the study. I think what we can agree on is that like all foods people react to it in different ways. What are important issues for some just aren't for others. Complicating this is a certain amount of genetic manipulation as well as the toxicity of our modern lifestyle. As someone mentioned, almond milk is the closest substitute for those that can't. Not all estrogen in soy milk is bio-absorbed. Here, again, you'll encounter a wide range - for most there is only a minor amount of estrogen bound- for some there's no problem at all, and for some it can be quite a serious problem.

Humans are the only creatures that consume milk after infancy.

Bullshit, my cat sucks tittymilk off the dog just about everyday, and he's about 3 1/2 years old
