WATER - can't quench the thrist

I don't know what's wrong with me.
I drink 3 litres of water at bare minimum per day - just while working.
I know just by the water bottles I go through at work.

I wake up thristy, so I start drinking.
I come home and I'm thirsty, so I continue drinking.
I drink while I workout - slosh, slosh -- you know the feeling.

And at night I have the wa wa bottle next to the bed.

What am I a camel?

Seriously - I am always dying of thirst, my tongue is like white and I have no idea as what to do.

Water logged and stupified.

Ou. BC - Demulin for like three years now, without them I either never get a period or it never goes away.

Did it start just recently? And have you had your blood sugars checked? I had heard somewhere that an onset of unquenchable thirst can signal diabetes, if all other causes are ruled out, such as weather, hormonal changes, diet changes, etc.

If you're working out, 3 liters/day isn't all that much. I drink at least a gallon everyday (that's about 4 liters) and sometimes more. But if you drink and drink and never feel quenched, then it's something to look into.

Is this something recent? Are you on any other medications or supplements? Alcohol and caffeine can dehydrate you, as can salty foods. Perhaps you're not drinking enough water.

Besides your thirst, do you feel well otherwise? If not, then check with a doctor. There could be many reasons for excessive thirst, some serious, some not serious.

Diabetes Mellitus (check your urine for glucose)

Diabetes Insipidus (vasopressin (ADH) problems)

or,

not taking in any sodium with the water, thus the body as a whole is not able to rehydrate.

What is your urine output like? Always urinating or normal?

One gallon a day of water in hot weather is not alot.

:eyes:

3 litres is abot 100oz and 1 gallon is about 128oz...I would say I exceed the gallon mark daily easily just with my morning glasses of water - the 3 litres is just while I'm at work. I'll tryjust drinking more but you know that feeling in the back of your throat when you're really thirsty - it never goes away.

I noticed it about a year ago and thought is was from the tea I was drinking so I stopped about 90% of my tea drinking. At first I thought it was better but I really haven't seen any further improvement.

Blood sugar - nope not recently. (mental note to do that)
All I can say is that I'm always tired. Sleep or not sleep I'm dragging through the day.

Other drugs?

Zomig & Floricet (Butalbital) (tension headaches/migraines)- on average I go through 3-8 of each per month. I guess it could be the Butalbital...hmmm. I don't know why I hadn't thought of that one.

always in the loo.

I would have never thought of a gallon as not a lot but I have an open mind. I'll drink some more and see what happens.

( I hate doctors offices...sigh)

OH and Zyrtec - my God when did I become such a pill popper.

Ach.

More water it is - let you know what happens.

What is "normal"? I feel like I'm always urinating, but it's more like I drink water and then an hour or so later, depending on how much I drank, my bladder is full and I "go". Based on what I'm drinking, I don't see how I could urinate less frequently (although I have an iron bladder and can hold it when toilet facilities are not to my liking).

Zyrtec will make you very thirsty. at least it does me. It's one of the side effects. :(

Side Effects:
While Cetirizine or Zyrtec® is classified as a non sedating antihistamine, it is able to cause some sedation, but much less than other antihistamines. As well, it can cause dry mouth.
