how many protein shakes a day?

...Do you guys usually drink? I know most of you guys advocate whole food but i was just curious. I usualyl drink 2-3 a day (pw included) because of time limitations and my schedule. Is it still possible to make good gains off 5 solid meals a day and lets say 2-3 shakes a day if you're eating about 3800-4500 cals a day? any input appreciated
 
Protein shakes

yeah, you should be straight with that. I usually eat 6-7 times a day and I'm ususally good for 2-3 shakes. One is PW, one is a blend before bed, and the other if there is one is convienance.

WHEN I AM ON A BULKING CYCLE I CONSUME 4 1250 CALORIES SHAKES DAILY AND I MAY FIT IN 2 SOLID MEALS IF I AM NOT FULL. I MAKE TREMENDOUS GAINS. POTEIN SHAKES HAVE ALL YOUR REQUIRED PROTEINS, CARBOHYDRATES, FATS AND VITAMINS AND MINERALS. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE THINK YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOLID FOOD TO GAIN WEIGHT. A CALORIE IS A CALORIE WHETHER SOLID OR LIQUID. SEE I AM ON A TIME SCHEDULE SO I DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE TIME TO MAKE A MEAL OR SIT DOWN FOR A MEAL. SHAKES ARE CONVIENUENT FOR ME.

I could sit here all day and tell you that 3800 cal a day will make you grow like a weed "because it worked for me". Now what I said was "it worked for me". There is no way I can tell you what calorie intake is going to work for you. I can only go off of what is normal and guess. I know a guy who takes in over 6,000 a day and still has trouble maintaining and gaining. He is on this board!! The only way you can find this out is trial and error. Set your goal for 4500 cal a day and see if that produces the gains you were looking for if not then set them for 5000 a day and see if you get better results... Another thing that might help is to put your stats and goals when you ask questions. That way the guys know what your trying to acomplish. Good luck.......TAPOUTM

Really....who is he? ;) That poor guy must spend a fortune on food every month (not to mention he has a teenager to boot...:D )

I've had 3 a day since the beginning of time.....

One with my morning oats.

One PWO.

One before bed.

Along with 3-4 solid food meals. :)
 
I have one for breaky if I am in a hurry... the post workout one... and sometimes a night one... (just whey though... no carbs...)
