Can low weight, high rep training be performed more than 3-5 times a week?

I've been wondering if perhaps that for people who are trying to lose weight a frequent schedule of low weight, high rep resistance training might be a better alternative to cardio and heavy lifting with low reps.

Does anyone have input on this?

i prefer the cardio and heavy weights......... i know this method is not the most comfortable in the world........ but belive me........ it is one of the best........... i dont think you will like what happens if you go to the low weight and high reps workout..........imho.

What would happen?

The reason I ask is because I'm already a big guy, I really don't want to put on any more mass. I'm built like a football player, I just need to tone the muscle I already have and drop some body fat.

If you diet and ONLY do light high reps stuff you are gonna lose lbm

What does lbm mean?

Is that lean body mass?

I always heard people say that high reps and light weights would make you super toned. I guess that would be another modern exercise myth.

the stimulus produced by high rep (15+) training is no where near the stimulus from training between 6-12 reps. You will burn more fat with lower reps.

diet is what will get you "toned", not a specific type of training.
