I'm seriously thinking of competing next year, but it scares the hell out of me. I know I'd need a trainer, or someone to help me because I have no idea what I'm up against. I also don't really know what to compete in. I have a big tattoo on my back that can't be covered up, and I feel I'm not cut out for figure. I'd like to compete in body building, but I don't know what class...
I wouldn't worry about the tattoo - there is stuff to cover it up if you feel its necessary. Otherwise, its fairly common these days. As far as weight class, at your height because you don't have bulk like a powerlift I'm gonna say easy lightweight. I personally think you'd find figure to be zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. For BB, just go find some shows locally & see what the girls look like, how many compete, etc. Talk to them, talk to people at the shows, ask questoins and just get a feel for it. Go from there. Probably NPC is where you will end up competing just because it is the most common federation. I'm not familiar with AZ's competitive atmosphere, but see if you can catch any of the shows before the season ends and just see what its like.
