Am I screwing myself w/ this chest training method?

Just today I started a new chest training method, after reading the add 50Ibs to you bench post, and training details, what I got out of it, is If I really want to increase my strength I should really be pushing out towards my 1repmax.

So today after warming up I started w/ my working weight (which I usually try for 8). Instead I did 1rep, added 5Ib 1 rep added 5 ect.. untill I failed I attempted the failed one a few times just to make sure I really couldn't get it up, and dropped to my last successful weight, effectively my max. Did that for pretty much 1 rep sets, trying for more though a few times coming close to 2reps.

After that I rack the weights and continue my normal training, w/ flys ect... back at normal weights that I can handle.

Thoughts are that w/ the heavy press I'm training solely CNS, and then later I hit the other movements for mass, I can't really see how this method would hurt me, but at the same time, I wonder if it'll help. Since the add 50IBs, did a few more reps at less than you max (mabe so you arn't as injury prone?), but it didn't later have you train the parts like you would for normaly will that throw off the CNS training, .....

or is that simply because int hat routine you train 2x a week and they don't want you to reall kill the muscle, since there just giving the CNS time to recover since the muscle isn't all that damaged?

btw I'l still on my normal split, no increase in the frequency of chest workouts.

Never heard of that "method" before but I would assume for it to work you would have to pack up and go home after your initial 1 rep "medley"

Resuming the normal workout will render the previous effort worthless. It's like shooting a target with a .223 bullet in the select targets your aiming for only to wip out a 12 guage and blow it to pecies (strange analogy but it makes sense to me.)

welp I had already gone and done it before any responses were made, so I decided I might at well do it again the next week so I can guage it I mean I was halfway takes at least 2x to see if it makes any improvement.

Well my last current bench was 205x7

I was only able to hit a max of 225.

Next week however my max was 235. It improved fast simply because I had never attempted a max before. I'm assuming the pattern would continue improving my max bench each and everyweek since its so low compared to my normal bench as I get used to handling the weight up until a point obviously. Next bench day however I'm returning to my normal routine to see what if any this 2 time deviation has had on my normal bench.

nobody knows if it will work, just go for it and if it work then it does if not start over, this sport is trial and error remember
