THose of you who drink fast carbs DURING your workout

I've been reading about this subject and others concerning nutrition in "Nutrient Timing." I will begin taking in carbs/protein 10 min before I workout and more during, like 30 grams carbs and 15 grams protein. I beleive it will be beneficial.

The only thing at my natty store is molasses and corn sugar.....<----is that the same thing? Corn sugar??? If so, how much? Looks pretty thick.........

if that's corn syrup, you don't want it. "corn syrup," "high fructose corn syrup", "corn syrup solids," ALL GARBAGE. use only carbs with training that can readily be converted to glycogen, these cannot.

pick this up if you can:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...78/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/104-9580052-2172735

as you can see, used it's under $10.

good luck to you and anyone else going to try this.

You reccomend this book 40? Is this the same one you are reading sylder? If you guys recommend it, I am going to grab a copy, found one an Amazon Canada for 15.00 cdn. Can't afford not to buy it at that price.

lol ... you crack me up JKurzy-boy. If anyone wants to really iron out full details its you bro. k to you.

If someone ever says something like this to you ..

"And remember .. the most important thing to remember is ... oh wait, I have to go.. I will tell you later", you would want to kill them eh? lol.

Corn Sugar=Dextrose. Supplement companies are hyping dextrose now, but just remember taht you are paying supplement prices for SUGAR! when you buy it from them. I dont see grocery stores carrying it where I am, but I am sure that healthfood stores will carry it. I get mine from Wine Kitz for DIRT cheap. They probably wont know it as dextrose, but corn sugar.

Do some internet searching on using Honey as a during and postworkout carb. It looks very promising, and has outperformed dextrose on blood sugar levels post workout. I am going to start using it when my dextrose runs out. I am curious to see if this nutrient timing book talks any about it.

At the moment I'm also reading Nutrient Timing and it's a good read, there's some stuff in there you already know but it nice to see it summed up all together.

I will try the carb/protein pre/during and post workout thing to but have a question

If I drink carbs/protein pre/during and post combined with R-ala like Ulter does do I get the same bennefits from it as I will get without taking R-ala? Or will I get better results?

According to the book the bennefits from this aproach is in the elevated insulin level and R-ala replaces the insulin right? Will R-ala do the same as insulin does or better?

I think everybody is making this harder than it needs to be. Personally, I think consuming a regular whole meal with easily digesting proteins/low GI carbs/EFA's is the best way to go preworkout. I don't really see any problem with adding in a glucose drink during the workout. I mean, it definately will not impede any progress towards muscle gains. Post-workout I would concentrate mainly on quick digesting proteins like whey isolate. Then, an hour or so later, I would consume a regular meal.

I think total calories consumed during a whole day of dieting is more important than concentrating so much on pre/post-workout meals. I don't think anybody is gonna lose any gains if they don't have a drink during the workout. Man, i'll tell you what though, gatorade has really improved on their product's taste. I'm not a big fan of high glycemic and sugary meals anytime of the day, but others may not have a problem with it. I'm definately not a big fan of high glycemic sugars before working out. That's one meal i'd rather keep low-gi.

I'm not sure, but isn't Gatorade's carb profile mainly made up of Fructose??? A little fructose I feel will be fine, but i'd opt more for a dextrose drink. Fructose will be more beneficial for those running marathons where their livers will be depleted moreso than weight lifters.
