summer diet advice

hey guys- this is a pretty strange question, but what is a more efficient way to loose weight through diet.

1. a strict low carb diet- or even a ketogenic diet with things like cheese to keep lypoloysis in gear.

2. a more balanced diet with more fruits and veg.

obviously any nutritionalist or Dr would say number 2, especially in the long run. but for the short term which is more effective. i always used to think that atkins style diets were the fastest way to loose weight, but some gym buddies of mine say that the mixed food groups and slow release carbs of diet 2 actuall keep you fuller for longer, and more importantly speed up the metabolism faster than atkins could

what do you think

cheers

Most competitive BB's (myself included) opt for some kind of a carb-restricted diet. I switch to a clean protein/carb/fat % of 45/35/20 at 12 weeks out and if I stick to this I will lose an average of about 30 lbs in 3 months.

Theoretically, mixed balanced diets should work, and I certainly have given them a few tries. Yes, I might come in a "little bigger" but they have never, ever given me the lean, ripped look that low-carb does. And judges virtually always give the nod to cuts and vascularity over size.
