Post-Contest binge

Thanks. I go to school at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. probably never have heard of it lol but they have a show every year. Its called Mr. And Ms. Sru. I'm starting out with a small show to see how things go and if i want to do another one or not.

I've heard of it! I'm east of you, in PA. Have a SRU tshirt from a relative who played football there several years ago.

Good luck with your show! I'm like you-- I cannot wait to get my hands on some serious food! I'm 6 weeks out and am ready to eat chocolate cake the day after my show! :)

Thats cool im glad someone has heard of it! haha. But thank you and good luck to you too. But yeah I usually never really ate bad before dieting other than a pizza here or there...but as soon as I started dieting man oh man. I started craving things I didn't even know I liked! haha crazy stuff. needless to say going junk food shopping while hungry is not good for your wallet. I probably wont eat half of the things I bought haha

I'd be really careful too, like the other poster said. It's hard to stop the binging once you get going. I'd give yourself a day or two and then get back on a program and reverse diet back up to maintenance levels. It's super easy to put on 10+ lbs over night. Keep you water intake high post show too. You can swell right up and the water will help. Not sure if you'll be using any diuretics but I'd keep an extra one around for the post show binge. ;)

I think for me it was the water depletion on the last week prior to the show, as soon as I psyched myself out and knew I couldn't have as much water as I was used to drinking I was freaking out...I would suck on ice cubes just to keep my mouth moist. Have fun bro, enjoy the experience and make sure you get lots of photos.

This is a whole different thread topic probably but I've done a lot of reading on sodium/ water depletion and I know it makes a difference if you're natty or not but I'm probably not gonna do it for my next show. There's a new movement out there for not doing it. It's interesting stuff!! Maybe I'm just looking for any reason not to cut water!! LOL ;)

That would be great...but the judges like to see the dry look, not smooth...if they are finally going to take health into consideration, then that is a positive move for sure. Not good for the heart!

well I am currently cutting water and sodium depleting lol. I went that route I did read some articles and saw that some people say that cutting warred and sodium is unnecessary. but it is my first show and ill see how it works out.

Nothing to do the judges looking at health...it's more based on the science of water regulation in the body and a lot of research showing you can't regulate it, no matter how hard we try. I totally agree...judges are looking at overall conditioning, dry and hard. This is just all based on information I've read from some of the big diet guru names in the sport and lots of debates and opinions on other forums I go on. Some of the pro guys I follow are not doing it anymore, although most of them are naturals but they come in super dry and hard and compete at the national pro levels.

I haven't tried it yet but seen a lot of people backstage now drinking water. Again, I think if you're not natty, you probably do need to deplete depending on what you're running because some of the aas's can cause that interstitial water retention but if you're lean enough, they're saying you shouldn't have to deplete.

Who knows!! I'm always interested in hearing opinions and reading research for this type of thing. It's one of those standard bodybuilding practices that some are challenging now. I'm gonna hit the stage later this year and am going to do a trial run as I get closer...just to experiment! :)

I would track yourself really closely this week. Just so you really know what happens for you and what you're cutting out etc. It'll be really beneficial for you in future shows. Good luck!!
