Home Gym vs Real Gym

I'm saving up for a home gym. The things to be in it are these:

*One OL Barbell or any other 20-25kg barbell, but I need a powerlifting one, a little more expencive but worth the money. Doesn't cost me that much though, found one that with about 300lb price about $290, plates included.

*A stable bench

*Plates and more plates

* Something That I can use for doing Chins

I already have:
1: A not so very stable bench, also grip op on the sides for Dips or for putting your dumbell. Also able to use this when I do Squats.

2: Barbells, hav two that are perfect, only payed $3 each.
3: Have an Ez-curl for biceps, triceps
4: Also have a barbell for lighter weight like for bicepscurl with this barbell.

I figure I will be able to do: Chins, deadlifts, Squats, shoulder press with barbell or dumbells, and every other excersise with dumbells or barbells. Dips and chins. Benchpress, flyes and all of the other things.

My home gym will probably stop in $ at $800-$1000..NICE!! I also do not need to wait for anyone, no one will be in my way. Also I will be able to train when I want, no closing or X-mass open times.

My Home Gym is a REAL GYM...:)

POWER RACK
Adjustable Bench
Reverse Hyper
Glute Ham Raise
Hi/Low Lat Pulldown
Texas Power Bar
SS Bar
Bands and Chains
Boards and Boxes

all you need is a set of dumbbells , a barbell , a bench, dip/chin..station and a ton of weight. and whatever else.

My home gym gets me by decently...

I have a home gym with those piss ass plastic cement filled weights,Im planning on piked up 6 more 25lb plates as I only have 200lbs here now

but I wish I could goto a gym, like said before to many distractions here, satellite tv,ps2 and computer, and they usually win over my damp stinky basement

Someone said it above... unless you have a ton of gear in your home gym, you won't be able to match everything that a gym has to offer... of course, unless you have insane equipment like BFold... then, well... you are just a big, big guy. :)

I would love to have a home gym... I'd like to have a "home" for starters. I think there are many pieces of equipment i would want to buy, and by the time it was al said and done, I would have spent like 10K or more. Until the time comes when I'm rolling in cashola... I'll stick to the 30/mo for my gym membership. :)

I am a woman (obviously :D), but I have cardio equipment at home (stationary bike and treadmill) plus very simple weights and a bench. Nothing elaborate, but I am able to concentrate on heavy gym workouts and spend my leisure time at home doing cardio and a light strength workout. I am short on time so I alternate workouts at home and in the gym..Eventually I plan to have multistation equipment.

My hubby, though, used to have some Olympic weights with a heavyduty squat rack and other heavyduty equipment when we lived back in WA state. Now he relies on the gym only. Understandably, the stronger you get the more heavyduty equipment you will need :)..but I agree...nothing can compare to gym workouts unless you are supplied and built like BFold. ;)

I have a Power Rack, 700 lbs. of weights, Olympic Bench, Chin/Dip Machine . I've got 3/4 inch rubber mats on the floor. I love the convenience but somedays I just need to go to the gym to get that motivation.
