This is correct; a small but significant percentage of the winny is broken down on the first pass through the liver when taken orally.

But as far as liver toxicity there isn't much difference, the liver filters the entire volume of the body's blood every 30 minutes and will eventually have to break down all of the 17AA gear you use whether it be oral or injected.
