Caloric Needs

Hi,

I've been searching for calculators which indicate how much calories I need for a while on the forum and Google and I found that a few calculators said I need 3000 calories a day to maintain weight - but I done a test at my local gym (with a £500+ piece of equipment - bodystat 1500) and it said I need 4115kcal energy providing I am still doing high activity physical work and going to the gym a lot.

What one do you think sounds more realistic? I weight 182lb, 8.2% BF. It also says my metabolic rate at rest (the test in the gym) is 2200kcal~ I can't see me burning just short of 2000 calories in a day, I dunno though.... Anyone? :)

i would say (what works for me) 15 x lbm (lbs) to maintain , 12 x lbm to lose and about 20 x lbm to gain . ive always gone with 10 x lbm for bmr . all equations are just estimates nobody or programme can give you an exact number .

Ah, that's interesting, thanks. Because coincidentally 20 x lbm works out as 3300 for me, and my current kcal per day is ~3200. So I should be alright :) Cheers bud.
