Arm falling asleep/Hand Numbness

Replicant

New member
Usually happens in the middle of the night when I roll onto my arm. However, I noticed when I sleep with a pillow or on my back I don't get the numbness pain/arm falling asleep.

Should I be concerned? Has this happened to anyone else?
Will this affect recovery?

Me too...do you find your neck is often stiff as well? start stetching your scalenes and make sure you are adequetly stretching the entire shoulder area (i.e. pec stretches). You should always sleep on your back! i had to sew a pingpong ball into the front of my shirt to stop me from sleeping on my stomach!

its called PINS and NEEDLES, when you restrict blood flow in any part of your body you get numbness in the form of pins and needles, thats what is called. Its normal bro and it happens!!

LOL....is that the medical term used in the UK???
where i'm from it's called paraesthesia.
Just fuckin with ya Bro!
:p

I know what it is :(

I was hoping someone could shed some light on how cutting off circulating for hours may affect recovery and if there are dangers like muscle atrophy?

well..i'm positive it can't be good for you! i was wondering the same thing a little while ago, and didn't find much discussion in this area. However, instead of taking the chance, why not just avoid possible negative effects and just sleep on your back?

Believe me I always start out sleeping on my back. Then in the middle of the night I wake up on my side. I also need a bigger bed (got a bed hog too)!
