No PWO carbs for me. And you know I use Gatorade throughout. :)

IMO drinking anything caloric during the workout is not good. Infact, you shouldn't eat anything within an hour of your workout, excepts I do take some BCAA's with Crystal Lite right before I leave and then drink a few liters of water during WO. Caloric foods/drinks during WO messes with your insulin at the wrong time, you're supposed to shuttle the nutrients after the workout AFTER you have just stimulated your muscles using water and blood to pump the muscles and replenish water loss during WO.

Mavy bro

I am so scared of gaining fat that I dont even use simple carbs on my diet .... I drink only water during workouts and after I use medim glycemic carbs ...

but someday , I might try some simple carbs like gatorade during workout to see if there is a big difference on stamina / strenght ..

victor: how long are your workouts and what do you eat before you workout?

if your workouts are short you might not notice a big difference..

if you eat a good balanced meal before you workout you might not notice a difference..

if you havent tried it i think you should give it (carbs during wo) a try

good luck

You might want to contact the Gatorade Sports Science Institute, Barrington, ILL at 1-800-616-4774 and ask for the director Dr Bob Murray and let him know he's got it all wrong. :)

Check out a book called Nutrient Timing, it's good information.

Carbs immediately before and during the workout, along with a fast acting protein, works well for me. I agree with you Mav, it's also made a world of difference with my training and recovery. I also agree with the consensus on the pwo carb intake; as long as it's there immediately before, and during, I don't feel I need any pwo. In fact, using them pwo seems to make me feel bloated and sluggish.

I should say that the correct types of carbs is important..corn syrup and the like is nothing but garbage.
