should you use protein powder when cutting up?

im currently trying to lose fat and cut up,got a solid diet and im doing plenty of cardio and weight training.my question is whey/protein powder

should i be using this supplement?currently im taking nothing, and i was always under the impression that protein/whey powders where for people trying to bulk up,im obviously not looking to do this so ive been avoiding the stuff.

it was a friend who said i should be using whey protein to supplement my training as it helps my muscles recover and grow,is this correct?but will it not also pack on size?becuase most of the whey protein ive seen is very high in carbs and other nutrients, therefore im under the impression its a counter-productive product for someone trying to get ripped.

any advice on this matter would be appreciated.also anything else i should be taking?

Real whole foods > whey and other powders > junk food.

Real meat and food wins out always, there's nothing wrong with a good whey powder (especially post workout), or a good casein blend when u need something that takes longer to get digested... and sometimes the demands of life require ya to practically live off that stuff.

Just find a good brand that's not filled with a ton of junk.

Powders are used to supplement the diet regardless of bulking or cutting. Using powders PWO or at night before bed is preferred by most so don't be scared to use them. Remember whole foods high in protein are a better choice so don't depend on powders to make up for a lazy diet plan. What does your cutting diet look like now?
