Notjake11's Test Infusion Log

Not a lot to report today as it's an off day from working out (no cardio or lifting). However, there are two things worth noting:

1. More than usual, it's actually difficult to NOT workout. My energy levels are so high and my body is feeling so good that I WANT to be active and pushing it. However, my mind knows I need recovery time so I'm being good . . . so far.

2. My diet has gotten back in check and I'm 3-4 days clean now. Looking lean and loving it.

Today was a tough day, not because of diet or side effects or anything of the sort. It was a tough day because for the second straight day I had to force myself not to workout.

On the cardio front, I took yesterday and today off and will again tomorrow as my first half-marathon (a trail run of course - because what kind of person does their first half on a normal road, that would make too much fucking sense) is on Saturday morning so it's time to let my legs rest and recover so I go into it fresh. I am very aware of straining my calf overdoing it in training for my first race so being extra cautious. My ex-girlfriend, who I have stayed friends with, has been working on my legs all week to help me prep (therapeutic massage, ultrasound and tape in exchange for me "massaging" her in return). I'm getting a sports massage at a local spa tomorrow afternoon (gift certificate from a client I got for Xmas). The Saturday morning my ex is going to do another ultrasound and tape me up.

On the weights front, today would have been squats and deads and with the race less than 48 hours away I decided to pass and hold off until next week. I'll do the planned upper body workout tomorrow (bench, incline and military 5x5 and some arm work to supplement), but nothing that will have me anything less than fresh come Saturday morning.

Diet has been on track all week. I decided last weekend to stay at 2250 calories for the week with the intention of going a bit higher tomorrow to carb up a little for the race. As of now I'm pretty much EXACTLY on track (average 2225). My plan for the last five weeks is to average 2500 so the extra 1000 calories I saved Monday through Thursday will go to adding some carbs to each of my meals tomorrow and a pre-race snack.

I'm loving this cycle and feeling absolutely fantastic. As I've said before, on the one hand I wish I could stay on this cycle indefinitely. On the other, I'm so looking forward to my first true AAS cycle (ie - including test).

Today was a pretty epic day. Did my upper body 5x5 workout and absolutely crushed it. As I mentioned in an earlier update, I was going for 5x5 at 225 today and not only completed the full five sets, I did it without feeling the need to call for a spot and with no hesitation. I then banged out 5x5 at 185 on incline bench (did 165 last workout and it was too low) followed by 5x5 in seated barbell press at 135 (did 125 last time) and felt like I should have gone higher for both. I'm literally getting stronger every single workout.

Tomorrow is my half-marathon and it's going to be an interesting one. Not only is it a trail run instead of a road race, it has been raining here for the last 24 hours so it's going to be a sloppy mess. This will be my first run over 10 miles so I'm curious to see how it goes. I used the extra calories I'd saved all week to add a few extra servings of carbs with each meal, finishing the night with some pasta (not a gorging like many do to carb up but a good sized portion). For the last five days that puts me at exactly the 2500/day I was aiming for and I'm feeling amped up and ready to go.

That's another item checked off the bucket list. This morning I ran my first ever half marathon. It was a trail race and the race would have been hard enough even with good weather. After two days of rain it was a complete and utter mess - I was soaked from the knee down within the first mile and by the midway point my feet felt like they were carrying 10 pounds of water.

I finished the race in under 2:07 for a 9:41/mile pace. I had originally hoped to break the two hour barrier, but between an injured calf and the sloppy conditions I am still pleased to have at least stayed under 10 minute miles. I actually finished four spots higher in my age group this time as compared to the last race (10th this time as compared to 14th in the 8 mile run three weeks ago), despite there being nearly twice as many total runners. Apparently I'm not the only one that was slowed by the weather/conditions.

Having completed the run I will say it was arguably the toughest physical challenge I've ever done and I have a whole new respect for long distance runners. My body is really not pleased with me right now, but it was worth it and I know I'll do it again.

Nice job Bro! Keep it up...

I took Sunday off from pretty much everything to recover from the race on Saturday. I was surprised that I wasn't anywhere near as sore as I expected to be. I literally could barely walk after the race to get back to the car and walking up the 8 stairs to my apartment when I got home was almost too much to bother. But a couple hours later I was walking with only a slight limp on my injured calf and by the time evening rolled around I was pretty much fine. Yesterday I was a little sore but nothing compared to what I expected today just a little tight in the calves. I did 45 minutes of cardio and was going to do my normal full leg day workout but my calves were still a little too tight/sore for squats. Did deadlifts and bent over rows with no issue whatsoever and went up in weight on both.

Diet over the weekend was off after the race but clean today - 2000 calories and 260g protein.

Feeling good and am already looking forward to my next race.
