"It's all about diet, I don't even do cardio."

Words from an aquantaince of mine that is absolutely ripped. He just says he hits his abs and body parts with the right high reps and eats very well, and there's no need for cardio.

Is this true or is it something that depends on genetics??

a little bit of both. because of genetics i am never over 7% bf no matter what. its a bitch to put on mass but my abs will always pop out and i am pretty ripped and vascular. i can eat whatever i want and i do not get fat. i know guys that are able to attain unbelievable physiques because of diet but only the ones that have ripped genetics can skip cardio

I can stay pretty damn lean via diet only, but I would rather eat shitty a few times a week, and just deal with the cardio 3 times a week

i NEVER do cardio. never have.
and except for one serious "bulker" i've never even been close to 10%, and i dont ever want to be anywhere near that again.
i maintain around 5-6% year round and i NEVER do cardio. guess one of the good things about being an ecto. the bad thing is that i'm a hard gainer and lucky now to get 5-10lbs out of a cycle. although they are all lean gains from now on, i do not do the "bulking" thing.
deca/eq is my weapon of choice, you've been warned bruce

With the a very strict and clean calore controlled diet, based on carb cycling, or the like, combined with anabolics to hold onto muscle, it can be done.

Many pros do this, as it helps them hold onto muscle better, as they do not have the worry of tearing their body down thru cardio sessions (probably more fear than reality.) Many also use a little thermogenic help from Clen/ECA (and many use T-3 aswell) it is VERY possible!! I guy I know who trains with some NPC guys says this is along the lines of what they do.

i think my next will be your little eq/deca mix. a lot of bros seem to like that alot.

really ? glad to hear it, cause as of now i havent heard anyone else condone my cycle. most people give me shit for not using test, and the rest are all deca haters anyway...

this cycle has proven to be the very best for my body. no sides at all, and i feel great the whole time. i may even try to stay on the eq for a whole year and cycle the deca on and off

more and more no i hear bros running like 400 deca and 400 eq with their test instead of say 600 eq or deca

Its true some people have gifted genetics. Diet makes a HUGE difference no matter what way you look at it. A lot of people think cardio and they think biking, running, stairmaster, etc. What some people don't realize that cardio is just an activity that keeps the heart rate elevated to a certain level for a length of time. (I know...DUH...right?) Well I have known a few really ripped guys that would never step foot on a piece of cardio equipment. Besides a decent diet, they alter their workouts to keep thier heart rate up the whole time. Instead of a regualr rest period between sets, they would throw in a quick, high-intensity set of abs. This still gives the muscle group they are working the rest it needs but keeps the heart rate up. This is just one example...get creative. :p

i only do cardio when bulking, it really helps my recovery and it's relaxing

when i cut i'm already to bothered with eating fucking dork-food all the time so i skip the cardio... i do the drugs instead :D

Cardio is unparalleled in it's significance for maintaining a healthy heart (not for fat loss) -- always!

Weight training cannot replace cardio for heart conditioning. Can't wait to hear some of the retarded responses

Cardio is not only to lose weight, its for you heart too, it's good to do cardio at least twice a week

I don't usually do specific cardio either. I do however play baseball in the summer and handball every week in the winter, so I am getting the blood pumping. If the waist starts getting too big, I can generally alter my diet enough to straighten things out.

I would guess I am generally around 11-13% - good abs but not a chiseled 6 pack. However there is one guy here that does not do any cardio and had great abs. Slat.

How many that responded are and have always been genetically lean though? From childhood till now?? So its easy for someone to say they can eat just about anything and not gain weight then follow up with "i dont do cardio i just eat well" .... for the rest of the population that have a weight "control" problem and are genetically dispositioned to easily gain weight...merely eating right wont cut it, you have to have that cardio component in order to get where you want to be...it all depends on your genetics..

how's this for retarder...........I don't care what my heart looks like....the only person thats ever gonna see it is the coriner. :) OK wheres my prize????

Cardio, by it's very nature is associated with positive heart and lung function. Without proper heart and lung function, your body does not use oxygen efficiently. Growth is much more difficult if your muscles aren't getting enough oxygen when you place them under a load.

Oh, and of course there is the fat burning aspect too. But, in my mind the other effects are much more important. Plus, if you're getting your fat burning from a bottle, you may actually be doing damage to your heart and lungs. No one gives a shit about this stuff when they're 20. But, trust me, when you're 41 like me YOU'LL CARE.

With high intesity weight training your heart rate is high enough during your work out.
In other words, I dont stand around looking at bitches or talking about the ball game between sets. I'm in and out of the gym in less than 45 mins and my workout is tight and intense. yes some times i feel nausea and quite shaky...heart and muscles get worked at the same time.

i dont do cardio machines and i'm not out of breathe if I play sports with people who do cardio 5x week...i can keep up with or surpass them no problem.

So my statement is I dont do cardio machines but I do do cardiovascular exercise

I never had to do cardio until I took 5 years off of weight training and got married had kids and my job had me on the road 4 days a week eating fast food. I could have ate better but it was a slow decrease in my fitness to where I just quit caring for once in my life! Now I do cardio at least 5 days a week for my heart, lungs, and because I am trying to get my body fat back into single digits!! My metabolism use to be really fast but it slowed down to a crawl so I have to do cardio.

My thing is I used to be very lean. I stayed that way until one summer I bulked and ate everything in sight, McDonalds, BK, pizza, etc. I put on a little ponch and since then it's stayed exactly the same.

I'm hoping this means I have a very steady metabolism and that once I finish this Tren/Prop cycle I'll stay the same with a flat stomach.

It is a combination of genetics and diet. Some need some amount of cardio to lose, and some dont. I think the intensity you lift weights at makes a huge difference, fast and hard, short breaks will get you going just as good as a cardio session, believe me. I myself have a fast metabolism, i have lots of trouble getting over 12% bf during bulking, but within weeks can go sub 7% just on diet.

I was skinny as a kid. Then a fat ass in college = 28% bf!!!
I never did cardio until recently. My signature pics were taken before I started cardio. I am not on any AAS in them either. Its all diet!
Even Beverly International will tell you there is no need to do cardio when they are getting you ready to do a show.
I have been doing it lately though. Mostly for health reasons.

finally slat chimed in. though i don't do cardio i forgot to mention that i play tennis and basketball and run my dog everday so though its not a part of my workout i am getting my heart going, i just really try to reframe from burning calories i need to grow

Being ripped without cardio is mostly due to good genetics. I am always ripped year round. My shoulders are always striated along with my chest and intercostals. I rarely do cardio but I do have a very physically demanding job.

Slat1 - your midsection is fricken awsome in those pics, great job.

I'm really trying to lean up also, i've slowed down on the cardio since i do martial arts 2-3days a week but I think I have to throw some stationary biking which i have at home into the mix. I hate how adipose(fat) cells can grow to 97% greater than there size. Once we have bulked and got big and gained that fat say around our midsection we can always diet but we are just decreasing the adipose cells size and once we feed it the wrong food and it stores it we're doomed haha.

It is genetic. It has nothing to do with high reps or training abs hard. I didn't do any cardio before my shows and I only dieted for 4 weeks.

Exactly! People do not understand yes cardio is good for weight loss but it is extremely important for your cardio vascular system. Everytime I help someone move something heavy (refriderator, washer, etc...) they are bent over trying to catch their breath. Hey dumbass nice conditioning. I ride the bike 5-6 days/week at 30 mins. 130+ rpms. Cardio and diet all the way.
