I'm stuck at work in an office for about 8.5+ hours each day. I get stuck at a damn desk working on this god forsaken computer and I can feel myself turning it crap.

How the hell do I avoid this? I'm not taking in unnecessary calories or garbage food but I feel like I'm not getting enough movement throughout the day until I get to the gym. The bummer is that by the time I get there I'm usually so damn depressed from sitting around all day it takes me about half an hour to get the blood going.

I’m about a 12 months out from my first show and I need to do a hell of a lot of work between now and then. Primarially I need to drop a decent amount of body fat and get shredded. I’m just terrified of losing the LBM I have worked so hard to gain. But this damn job isn’t helping things. Fucl( I should have stuck with construction.

Thoughts?

Try lifting BEFORE work and see if that works for you. You'll probably need to amend your sleeping pattern too (ideally you want to be awake for an hour before lifting so will need to sleep earlier).

It's what I do and I'm getting way better progress than what I used to try to cram in a lifting session after 8 hours sat at a desk. Also after a hard ME Lower session I am kind of GLAD to be sat down for a while!!

Also if you don't like what you do as a job, change it. You spend way too much of your life at work to be doing something you hate.

Good luck bro.

I hear you. I am in the same situation as you as far as work. I start psyching myself up for my workout about an hour before I get off work and also drink some coffee. Seems to help......

Are you allowed to get up and walk around at all during the day? Do you get breaks or time for lunch?

When I was working, when I got upset or depressed about it, I'd go for a walk around the building or even just downstairs....got me moving around a bit and helped lift my spirits....

I was thinking some pushups in my office every hour or so and perhaps getting a 45lb dumbell for some curles. The problem is I don't want to make myself look like a freek in the office but I'm getting to the point where I think that is better than going postal.

I can pretty much move around freely but I have to keep it to a minimum as I often get urgent calls in my office. I guess I'm chained to my desk in a way.

No bruh..I love it...perfect for putting on size....I do cardio before work...then eat and work all day, then lift in the pm......perfect.

Sounds like it's more of a mental problem than a physical problem for you. I sit in front of my computer all day and so do many other people who are into fitness/nutrition/bodybuilding.

I workout in the morning before work and it gives me a jolt of energy. Working out in the morning makes me last through the day. I make sure to get out during my lunch break, but I like to think of sitting at my desk as a resting period. I bust my ass before I get here and I make sure I'm more active when I'm leave.

Don't make yourself crazy trying to be active all the time. Your body needs rest. Change your ATTITUDE about work... not what you're doing. It's not detrimental to your progress by any means.

I agree with Ashley.........I mean, what;s the absolute worse thing that happens? You get chunky and soft and start to lose muscle......that's the worse case scenerio.........best case is you use the rest to your benefit, eat your arsh off, train hard at night, and become the next Mr.O.....your choice....

You don't realize how lucky you are to have desk job where you can SIT all day and not burn yourself out. Working construction would have left you tired, over-trained, not making much progress. As long as your diet/cardio/weights/rest are in order, a desk job w/out having to move much is actually the BEST job to have.

You will want to find discipline/motivation from other aspects of life.
