fastest routine for building muscle?

New member
So it's the end of the year almost, and I had agreat plan to bulk all the way till school begins, but i hit a big speedbump as i broke my hand a few nights ago. I was doing the 5x5 and my lifts were all going up.

150lb bench
200lb deadlift
165+ lb squat

now i know you're thinking "stupid kid, building muscle takes tons of time and there's no such thing as fast muscle" but i was just wondering, what routine should I go with fo the two summer months that I get because when i get back to school, i want to be bigger, i want to turn heads. i know that in two months I will not get changes like that, but I want to know, what routine will give me muscle mass the fastest way (i know i wont be big by the next year, im not upsetby this)

super 20 rep squat routine
stick with the 5x5?
something else?

I plan on eating tons, getting tons of rest, and I would really like to hit the gym as much as possible for the routine.

sorry if any of my post is ignorant, im still learrning
thanks

Come on mate, if there was a single answer to this question do you not think everybody on earth would be using the same routine??

To be honest the more I read and learn about training, and the more I train myself, the more I'm starting to realise that your choice of routine pales in significance compared to your diet. Of course different things work for different people, but realistically whether you're doing 5/3/1 or DoggCrapp, your gains will be determined for the most part by your diet. As long as you're hitting the big compound exercises with any sort of intensity and frequency, this will provide the stimulus to grow.

If you've been doing 5x5 for a year then I guess you could try mix it up a bit, switch to higher reps or alter the split or something, but on the other hand if your lifts are still going up (or were still going up before your injury) then why change your routine??

I guess I asked the wrong question?

How much could I expect to gain on those different routines? So you're saying that if I lift heavy, eat right, and rest up, most routines should get the same job done correct? (of course not in the two month period, I do not expect to get big in 2 months, i was just curious to see which routine out of all would show the best mass gains)

Some might disagree, but I think you should do rippetoes and start with lighter weight. The first 2 weeks or so it might be "too easy", but you're still just starting out and 5x5 only has 1 top set whereas rippetoes has 3 top sets.

Well.. The super 20 rep squat page says that you will gain 20 lbs in 2 month and other routines don't specify? 20lbs seems like a good gain for 2 months.

And when I asked what routine I should do everyone said I should do 5x5 instead of rippetoes because that's for beginners.. You sure?

sorry bro but:
"stupid kid, building muscle takes tons of time and there's no such thing as fast muscle"

Lol jk! I would try out the 20 rep squat routine if you do it and eat a lot the muscle will pack on. JUST EAT A LOT IT IS CRUCIAL TO THE ROUTINE

There's no wrong questions bro, that's how you learn...Hell, I've been @ this for 17 years and I still have a ton of questions a day....

Train hard and eat BIG, just be patient and the gains will come...

I would drop that 20 rep sqaut routine. There are much much better ways out there.
You sound young and thats a good thing for putting on "fast" muscle.
I would really concentrate on the compound lifts and NO specific isolation at all.
The compound lifts are gonna build your frame, and you can chicle that down later.
Drink milk, eat eggs, beef, fish, chicken and of course veggies and some fruit. Also eat nuts but not penuts and use natty penutbutter.
Supplement a multi-vite, protien and fish oil.
Get plenty of rest and you should be golden
Remember you gotta put in the fuel to build muscle so that means you have to eat.

Another question. I've heard a few stories of how people got injured, and were out of the gym for a while, but when they started working out again they gained more strength, and yeah they were stronger. Could this little breakfrom lifting. (due to a broken metacarpal inthe pinky side, you guys might know it better as boxers fracture) be good for me at all?

yeah a rest can be a very good thing, I remember I finished the 5x5 squatting 300x2, then came back a week later and did 300x5 easy.....
