THose of you who drink fast carbs DURING your workout

Do you still load on simple carbs postworkout? Drinking carbs during my workouts is one of the best moves by far I have made recently as far as my training goes, but I am wondering if I still need carbs postworkout?

Usually you replenish muscle glycogen ASAP after a workout, but by drinking a carb drink during your workout, do they really even get depleated? I am thinking that drinking a carb drink ASAP after trianing AND during is overkill on the carbs? I have been taking whey isolate with atkins milk ASAP after training, no carbs. Then eating more carbs two hours later in a meal with protien and fats. What are your thoughts on this? Still take in carbs as normally after training, or ditch them, as the workout carb drink is fine.

Well, I'm kind of against the whole post-workout carb craze anyways...so I'd say ditch the PW carbs since you're getting them anyways during the workout.
 
anyone ever thought of cramming some cake/cookies just before your protein meal to jack insulin levels?
 
I would think you're burning the carbs during your workout, provided you don't go crazy with them. I am more conciensousof carbs now-a-days, but still get in high GI carbs PW.
 
I think it depends on your goals. If you are trying to gain weight then carbs during and after are good.

When I was bulking, I used to drink 50g glucose with a 1g effervecent Vit C tab during training, then a protein/carb drink after. Worked very well.

Cutting I consume a relatively small amount post workout from oat bran hot cereal and blueberries(60g CHO). When bulking I consume about 150g of CHO post workout but I get them from pasta or pancakes. During my workout I consume 70g of carbs from dextrose. I consume around 2/3 of my carbs for the day during and after my workouts.
