Spider Veins

i just got a few spider veins on my calf. It makes me sick. I'm too young for this :bawling:. My leg looks gross now... the group of them are about an inch and a half wide and about half inch high. Then there are two a couple inches lower.

I don't really want to get the photoderm or the sclerotherapy yet. I've been doing some reading about the two and it sounds like something to do in the fall or winter when your legs are covered and you're not tanning.

Has anyone used any of the vitamin K creams they have to help with spider veins? I wonder if they really work. I found a few online. I'm hoping to at least reduce them a bit before I wear shorts or a bathing suit.

My friends does laser on peoples veins and it does seem to work. I don't know what she charges for it. But you could call some places that work with lasers...

Honestly, mine don't bother me. I like being vascular.

But I can see if it would bother you perhaps you should look into cosmetic stuff.

The way I look at it, I earned them in the gym. A lot like my stretchmarks from being pregnant - trophies! ;)

These aren't vascular looking, they are just little veins that are dark and gross... from a distance it just looks like a big bruise. I have other veins that just look vascular, I'm okay with them.

Hi LB,

I've been getting my spider veins treated for years. They started at age 25. The dark ones respond very well to the injections. The injections are cheaper and better than the two lasers I tried. Although mine are pink and supposedly those are harder to treat than the darker ones. The injections will leave pinpoint bruises for a week or two. If you want to wait till colder weather to treat them the self tanners really help make them less noticeable. I also saw Sally Hanson has a leg make-up that you spray on....might be worth a try. My vein guy said the vitamin K works on the very tiny veins, I am impatient so I just got the injections. Take care, Ginger

Thanks for the info. I was reading about the injections. Do you have to wear support hose for a couple days after? How much does each treatment cost?

No, I think the stockings are for the larger varicose veins. The treatments are about $200 each. You are not supposed to sunbathe or get very hot after; no sauna, hot tub, steam room etc., for about 2 weeks.

Lucid there is also a product called OPCs (ya you know mees, lol) that my cousin takes that is hyped to totally stop the encroachment of spider veins. You know they usually do spread so you're likely to develop more, especially considering how young you are. Since she started taking this stuff she hasnt developed any more at all in over a year.

Here's the link to the product she uses.

Thanks Anya, I'll check it out. I definitely do not want this to continue... I'm only 28. I'll be having nightmares of getting old looking legs if it keeps going.
