I'm gonna start doing 1/2 hour lifting weights and immediately after, do 1 hour of cardio. If I am estimating rightly, thats 1000 calories; 800 cardio and 200 lifting weights. My goal is to start dropping fat while maintaining or possibly increasing my muscle mass. I'm not exactly going for "ripped." I am worried about if and how catabolic this might be. Also if high protein could stave off the catabolism.

Side question: How many grms. protein in a 8oz. chicken breast?

I think that if you do 1 hour of cardio at a moderate intensity then you will be using a lot of fat for energy. I just looked at a graph in my Physiology class recently about the use of carbs, protein, and fat during exercise. This is what I am basing my recommendation on. I do think that you will use some protein but I would just supplement with BCAA before and after you workout.
