Ms.24k's quest for 10lbs of lean muscle.

Ladies, if this isn't obvious, she is getting blood work done as there is a chance her diet may NOT be the issue here... I am sure she understands everything you are telling here as well, this IS M24K we're talking about here...

Twinny, hang in there. :rose:

.. and happy too. You've just completed 2 shows and learned a whole bunch, made some fantastic contacts and are starting lay the ground work for the next step....

If you have hang time like this to get some sort of response from your trainer, work on him to also give you some "Plan B"s when you are this miserable. Another big part of extended competitoin training is to learn how your body responds and also listen to it and make judgement calls about the risk / reward of say, eating an extra 50 g carb so you dont' feel miserable. These are things that are added to your arsenal of knowledge so you can take ownership of your progress and be better equipped to handle stress situations where the quality of your life & progress is affected. This is a hobby at this point and its affecting the quality of your existence right now. Keep things in perspective.

I ate a potato, hmm or 2. I don't feel any better.

When I feel really crummy and in need of a major carb fix, I eat a piece of cheesecake :chomp: (only once in a great while), God it does a body...scratch that...mind good :p

A friend of mine, former bb competitor, now in the medical field, once told me that your brains and vital organs need a minimum of 50 gm of carb a day to function at a decent rate...

Well if my advice offends her I'll keep my .02 to myself.

OR if she has 50 g of potato and starts to feel better that might also be telling. Very simple test to know if the diet IS the issue, and IMO the more obvious source of the problem.

I'd get the blood work done anyway just as a good baseline to know where you are after the stress of the comps.

I wasn't implying your advice was offending anyone Frisky.

I'm sure your advice & experience is more than helpful, beneficial and appreciated to other ladies on this board as well as Missy's current situation.

ok ok ladies... First Frisky I totally understand what you are saying, and I always respect you opinion so no I'm not offended by anything you said, I know you are trying to help :)

I also agree with you Frisky, I need to eat to gain muscle and I'm ok with gaining some fat, I've finally come to accept my extra 5 pounds :)

Sassy I think you missed my post, I did have 2 potatoes yesterday and a banana too, I still feel the same though.

And kbekqt I don't know what you're talking about, lol I've never eaten less than 50g of carbs, well maybe once when I carb depleted for my 1st show but I don't even think they were that low.

Just wanted to mention that blood work can be very helpful in this regard if other diet based changes like adding carbs are not helping.
I dieted down last year during a particularly stressful time in my life and while I had great results in terms of appearance etc, I was just totally beat (even with ECA as a pick me up for cardio). When i went for my yearly physical and mentioned it to my doc she did some blood work and it turned out that I was depleted in iron. Once i started taking an iron supplement my energy levels returned. I could not believe the diff. After some research I realized that the limitations of my diet (carb cycling, but restrictive near the end) along with large amounts of water (6 L / day) was contributing to this issue, as I was likely washing out many minerals (was zinc deficient too) with the copious amounts of water, coupled with the already restricted diet.
Not sure if this applies to you at all, but thought I'd mention cause it sounded somewhat familiar.

Good luck at finding a solution. I know what a drag it can be to feel dragged out (no pun intended).

K

I know, all the ladies are well educated on this board, this was more an FYI than anything else...

But I do hope you feel better and get good blood test results :)
