Ketosis and training

As of last week (Friday to be exact) I started a low carb diet and by Sunday I managed to enter the state of ketosis. I've read that while in this state body fat is burned much more effeciently. However I'm wondering if there are any negative aspects to working out while in this state or is it vice versa. (all positive)



Quite a few articles and books state that doing cardio in the morning before breakfast will make a tremedous difference in fat burning. Is the same true concerning cardio during a ketosis state?

Will my muscles suffer (atrophy) while training on an extremely low carb diet?

How long should a person stay in a state of ketosis?

Has anyone here personally used this method to lose large amounts of weight?



I need to shed about 38 pounds at the least and maybe 58 at most. I'm really hoping that a low carb diet and lots of hiit cardio will help me to trim the fat quickly.
 
Yah ! and another question. what type of cardio is better HIIT or 70 75% @ MHR?

I am use to doing a ketogenic diet. It's great and have lost some fat and made way better muscle gains. -- i don't have any dairy either anymore!(EFA oil is good) i only have about 5 or so pounds i want to lose! i used to have cheat days/ carb up days. it seemed to stop working so i tried 2 weeks and i finally lost a bit more..i'm aiming for a month now maybe 3 weeks cause my birthday is comingi hate cheat days! I have been doing double cardio 4-5 x a week too.(for th last week and a half) but what type of cardio!? HIIT - for 20 30 mins or mod. intensity for 40 - 60 mins? i'm harsh confused about that. I feel healthier than ever!! michelle

Training will lag a bit.

Do a two day carb up every 8-10 days.

Strength will be down due to reduced glycogen levels in the muscles - ie - you will feel flat.

any negative? more like how many negative.

maybe when we evolve and the brain stops being so choosy for glucose, i'll join in on the fun with placing my kidneys at risk from excess ketones and high blood nitrogen. for now, i believe my 7% ass will stick to whats safe and working. bmr and calories, without the worries of peeing on a stick.

as for fat being burned more efficiently....what else is left to burn? there is no glycogen so its either muscle or fatty acids. which is why i love getting people after they tried lendora, atkins, zone etc. i floor them with a high bodyfat percentage because they lost so much muscle.

just be careful, thats all i'll say.:)
