Heh, I was just curious if any of you could decribe to me, or link me to an article (I'm quite lazy at the moment ^^) about isometric, isotonic, and isokinetic contractions and what the difference between them all is? I have a general idea, but I was bored and figured I should get to know more. As it is, I know more than all the P.E. teachers in my school about training, muscles, the body and such. It's pretty sad...

Isometric, static resistance training no change in the length of a muscle.
like pressing against a wall (it aint going anywhere) or loading pins in a power rack and pushing a load bar against them

Isokinetic, the velocity of the movement is controlled by a machine

Isotonic, the muscle exerts constant tension...even though tension changes with limb angles and mechanical advantages (like the top part of a bicep curl will feel lighter than the middle portion) resistance training is often called isotonic
