Hi Girls,
I'm just curious what the main difference in training/diet is between someone with a body like Brooke Burke and a Figure girl like Monica Brant (other than genetics :))?
I think both look amazing, of course... I'm personally going for more of Brooke Burkes type of a body, but have a ton of respect for girls with bodies like Monica Brant's, or other fitness girls...

Monica = weights, balanced diet for her body, and plastic surgeon
Brooke = lots of cardio, maybe yoga/pilates, food free diet ie.. hardly any, and a really good plastic surgeon

IMO, on top of what you said genetics...

How about Jessica Simpson? During the filming of daisy duke... She said in interview after interview that she was lifting weights quite frequently...
Do you think it's the actual weight AMOUNT that they're liftging? ?... I'm they are/were eating the same types of food.. Lean protein, complex carbs, etc...Does Monica just takes in more cals to build the muscle then JS?

Sorry, last question, I promise :).. Just curious...

Monica Brandt - gymnastics background, 10 yrs of top level fitness competition, constant diet / training / lifting, AAS

Brooke Burke -- what treil said

I actually could give a rat's ass what Jessica Simpson does .. it doens't even compare to what Monica Brandt does and you can't compare because they have different goals and obviously a different history of training. For someone Jessica Simpson's age, with her 'normal' body type and the fact the probably a 2 month diet could, a little basic lifting and cardio would get her tight makes me not impressed :)

I am a lifting snob :)

Sassy, I totally agree.. I'm not saying that JS does anywhere close to what Monica Brant does... That's why I was asking what it is that they do differently. I know Diet/training is different..but WHAt is different with their diet/training? ... I was just using her as an example.
Sorry, sorry.. not trying to piss anyone off :)

L O L !

I read something on Brooke Burke's diet... I think in Fitness Rx for Women. First - she's TALL, with SLIM figure. GENETICS. No matter what I do, I could never come close. 'tall' and 'slim' do not describe many of us here. :D Well - me especially.

Secondly - she eats very healthy. She doesn't starve herself - but she doesn't have 1/2 the muscle most of us here have, either - so her calories would seem low based on this. I think she hovers right around 13-1400cals a day, and weighs 124 or something. She does cardio every day. ( I'm guessing based onwhat I can't remember I read. lolol So don't quote me. )

Monica eats to keep/build muscle. You can't compare them. Like oranges to apples.

I guess this is the thing - Monica has a lifetime invested in her body for specific goals, Brooke has a relatively long time invested in her physique - JS doesn't. She probably hired some Hollywood trainer and tightened up her body. Its not just the "what are they doing now" but the time doing it and evolution of it all.

Oh & according to Brooke (had to GOOGLE)

Burke is committed to Pilates, “an exercise system focused on improving flexibility and strength for the total body without building bulk,” according to Pilates Inc. Burke credits Pilates with carving out her killer abs with movements she calls “abdominal contouring activities.” She used to practice yoga every day, but for the past three years, she has done nothing but Pilates three times a week and cardio workouts three times a week. “It’s all about balance and an active lifestyle,” she says.

Her daily plan incorporates lots of water, salad, clear soups, wheat bread and sushi (spicy tuna roll is her favorite), and her one vice each day is a single café latte. “It has very little coffee and lots of milk.” She avoids carbohydrates, sugar, white flour, dairy, juices, smoothies and most fruit. “I have a caveman philosophy: I eat raw, natural foods,” she says. “I really enjoy what I eat – I don’t think of it as a diet. If you are going to diet, cater it to your needs.”

Before you think she has more will power than one person deserves, take heart: She allows herself one day off each week to indulge her cravings. “Take one day and splurge – eat whatever you want to eat.” For Burke, that day includes such decadences as margarita pizza, chicken burritos, bread dipped in olive oil and her weakness: chocolate chip cookies.
