Diet for poor adrenal function?

Spinn99

New member
I have low adrenal function and feel generally lousy because of it.

What should I be eating and when?

My diet is not bad but could certainly be better. It doesnt help that the geniuses that built my apartment put the smoke detector above my oven either.

Any advice will be appreciated....DRs have been no help.

I have all of the symptoms and some things that arent even recognized as symptoms...yet.

I am fortunate be the patient of one of the best thyroid/adrenal DRs in the country and he has confirmed this, he just has not discussed diet with me and that is my next step.

I am taking armour, testoterone, and arimidex and this are slowly coming around but I need them to happen more quickly.

Hyperinsulinemia is a nasty beast when your adrenal axis if fecockta: if you dont already, then life by the following thirteen words:

Eat meats and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and NO sugar.

never EVER eat a carb source by itself and PLEASE watch out for doing more than .7gm*LBM for your protein high end. Too much protein will jump the gluconeogenesis fence and spike your insulin just like eating starch, and your kidneys need to be coaxed back to normal, or so it might appear.

Do you have any info on your blood work?

By "no sugar" do you mean not even splenda? My first meal of the day is oatmeal with splenda and I feel better after eating it.

As for blood work....it is usually in range for thyroid, testosterone and estradiol. I am not sure what else I should be looking for but do know I am becoming type 2 diabetic.

I eat mostly chicken or tuna with pasta for lunch and and ham and wheat bread or tuna with some fruit for dinner.

In other words...I have no idea what I am doing and that is why I am here.

no sugar is shorthand for no high glycemic index foods

you should also supplement with Vitamin b-5 (1,000mg 2 or 3 times a day) and l-tyrosine (on an empty stomach). these will help strengthen adrenal function and improve stamina
