Cutting - is 40% fat OK?

I´m thinking about doing this.. reducing carb intake and compensate with EFA´s (mostly olive oil, peanut and sesame butter, and walnuts).

I think it COULD help me in cutting, because at the same time I would be having less carbs and the tasty PB and fat in general would keep me from getting crazy sugar cravings.

Am I correct? My only concern now is: Is 40% fat too much fat, would that make you fat anyways?

I´m shooting for a ratio of about 33% - 36% protein (I know you guys will tell me to up this, but I think this is plenty for me), 24%-27% carbs, and 40% healthy fats). Those carbs would come in the first part of the day and fats by the evening. (P+C first half of day and P+F second half of day, excluding PW shake)

thanx

as long as your calories < than Tdee and your carbs are clean andas you've said you're using clean fats, it will in theory work
fat does NOT make you fat, excess calories do as do poor carbs but i dont understandwhy you are doing this since ratios like a 40/30/30 or 50/25/25 or ckds are tried and tested

hehe, simple: I believe I shouldn´t go over 1x my BW in terms of protein. That would be about 33% protein daily. Then, we have the carbs, and we know when dieting we should cut on those, which leaves me plenty of calories to use for fats, and since they are said to be good for losing fat (the healthy fats, EFA´s and such...), then why not? Also, I love peanuts, peanut butter, walnuts and so on andI think this would be a great method in keeping my cravings down!

Yes, my calories would be in check:)

Anyone has ever done this???

I´ll either do this 33p/27c/40f or the isocaloric 33/33/33

thanx

I guess Babyfaced Bro wanted to say "don´t mix fats and carbs", right mate?

That´s what I´ll be watching out for... I´ll have more carbs in the AM, which keeps me away from cravings, and if they come back later that day, after I cut carbs, I´ll be able to rely on PB and whatnot... hmmm... that would be a dieter´s blessing! at least for me :)

ehehe... although I´ve seen many people on this board saying they have their oatmeal in tghe morning with a tbs of natty PB? Would that be when cutting or not?

This is exactly the way I just set my diet up except I will be using mine to put on some size. My first 2 meals are carbs and protein, then I train and consume a post workout shake of dextrose and whey and then the last 3 meals will be only protein and fats!
Let me know how it goes for you!

FS I emailed you back, the diet sounds good, we just need to tweak it a bit.
