Can you ladies help with waxing?

I finally started biting the bullet and decided to take some hair off of the body and since I can't reach my back to shave it and my wife does not want to come into the shower with me every day to shave it (yes, I need it every day) We decided to go with waxing and she did it for me. That shit was unreal painful!!! We used the "No Heat Nads" stuff and it will pull hair like crazy, but it will also pull off skin pretty easily. I even bled quite alot. We used it on my back and upper arms, the arms went fine but the back bled. We did it as per instructions but we could not finish because we used up all of the cloth's and they needed to be washed out and dried.
Do any of you have any suggestions pertaining to waxing? whether it is a different kind or a different way? Any suggestions?

Ouch!! You bled? Ouch again!

I've always been professionally waxed as it's cleaner & easier -- IMO, worth the money. These people know what they are doing..... The only thing I can tell you is that you will get "used to it" eventually as your skin will toughen up some. The hair is supposed to come in thinner with waxing, but that never happened with me.....

I never had much luck with home waxing -- never got the same results...

My hubby gets his back professionally done sometimes. I think you'll get better results if you go professional. I have gotten various body areas waxed and I think it is well worth the cost. It is about $50 for the back, and you go about every 6-8 weeks. They do it quick and the pain factor is less IMHO.

I have never been successful at waxing any part of my own body. Paying a day spa to do it for me is well worth it, IMO. They know how to wax properly to maximize hair removal and minimize pain. Plus they can give you tips on how to care for your skin after the fact so you don't suffer from ingrown hairs. If you really want to stop shaving and start waxing I strongly recommend going to a day spa and letting a professional do it for you.

I echo these opinions. Def go with professional wax. It's SO worth it. Waxing is very tricky! I'm great with makeup, hair, and tweezing eyebrows and have NEVER been able to get the waxing thing down.

If $ is an issue, at least start off getting professionally done, maybe you're wife can come with you and watch. After a while, she'll prob be a pro from watching and maybe u can give at-home wax a shot again. I wouldn't use pads tho. I'd get professional grade wax that you melt in a pot.

I'm not a professional but have been waxing my upper lip, eyebrows, and other facial areas for almost 10 years. I have found the microwave wax by Sally Henson is pretty good. What you want to do is put a thin layer of warm wax over the area, take the sheets they put in the box, press it over the wax. Give it like 5-10 seconds to set, and then 'rip' it off in the opposite direction of the hair growth. Start small to get the hang of it. I've actually noticed over time the hair grows back in darker... and unfortunately it does not thin out. Also try cleaning the area with rubbing alcohol first, so it cleans the oil off your skin and lets the wax grab easier. If you wax more then 3 times over an area you're going to start taking skin off. It's not uncommon to bleed when the hairs are pulled out, or for the area to turn 10 shades of red. Well that's my information for you...

I went ahead and let my wife finish the rest of my back (this time) so i would not have to go to a professional and look silly with 1/2 or a wax job...Anyway, it looks better now and I will go to a professional the next time to see what the difference is. I want to get my upper arms, neck, and back done. My wife tells me that she does not want me to get rid of my chest hair since I am NOT overerly hairy...she calls it just the right amount, and we knew each other long enough that she remembers what I looked like with almost no hair on my chest and she likes it better now...So I goota keep things happy on the home front and just stick to the back and upper arms.

Thanks to all of you!

I am a hairstyist, also a waxer, and IMO just pay the money =), alot less painful.....or for a shorter time of pain atleast!!

=) got it ;) Thanks! Sorry it was a little short(response) got a call in the middle of it, and had to finish it up quick. I've only been to Macon once. To take my state boeard for cosmetology. It's like 1 1/2 - 2 hours from me i think?
