My son is 18 and has been lifting for a few months. He has made great progress working out twice a week (only upper body - can't get him to do legs, don't ask) and now some of his friends have told him they made great leaps when they started taking creatine. I gave him a supply and told him to follow these guidelines:
5 g before workout
5 g after workout
(rememeber, this will be twice a week)
5 g a day on days he doesn't lift
drink LOTS of water every day
cycle off for 2 weeks after being on for 8 weeks

My question is is he old enough to even be using creatine? And if so, is there any problem with my dosing/cycling guidelines listed above?

In my opinion he will be fine. Nothing wrong with creatine, even tho the media try scaring ppl years ago about it. Dosing is fine as well

Never heard of anyone having any problems with it other than mild stomach upset. Tell him to get the deadlifts and squats in!

I think he is old enough,,yes. If he eats meat he's getting creatine already there.
I would have him take 5g daily,,everyday.
Also,, have him train those legs...he will regret it later if he doesnt,,,plus heavy
leg exercises stimulate entire body growth.

If it makes you feel any better, I started using creatine at age 16. I'm 26 now. Sometimes I run it straight for 6 months. I don't believe creatine is something you have to cycle, but it doesn't hurt either way. The only bad side effect I got when I started was stretch marks on my biceps and triceps lol. My body loves creatine. I can tell a difference in my reps on day 3-4 of loading vs being off creatine.

Yeah bro, creatines fine. I'm 18 and I've been in that shit since I was 16. I'd go with 15g's a day, but that's just me. Also he's 18, so shouldn't he have already been looking into supplements and been lifting or is he a non athlete. Get him a pre workout like jacked, those are fun. Gets you amp amp ampedddd. Also make sure you cycle the creatine. Never more than 2-3 months on
