Why Do Some Women Think Muscle Is Unsexy?

I'm laughing and crying all at the same time....

Perhaps you can hope that the "iron bug" will bite her in the ass in the future and she'll want to learn more.

She is at least making an attempt at going to the gym, be it ONLY two days per week. After all, everyone had to start somewhere... The gym and OTHER people's results can inspire and change your mind on what goals you want for yourself.

ALSO KEEP IN MIND:

The only time you can change a person is when they are one year's old and still in diaper's......

I know theres a line to draw for some girls, but im working on one that wants a :
flat stomach (but know definition)
Thin body
straight arms (no sexy roundness or curves)
straight legs( same as above)
and a disant chest.
l

isn't the term used here for this "skinny fat"? i'm SO sick of seeing all these super skinny freaks running around, and long for the day when curves and muscles are "in". until then, i'll happily continue as i am, hitting the weights!

seriously tho, some people who are naturally thin may knock what they think they cant attain......i myself did that in the past, basically saying something didn't look good, when i knew it did, because i felt like for me it was the impossible goal. just keep her going to the gym and she'll probably get bit by the bug soon just like the rest of us. once you start seeing some results, you're hooked, and you want more.

the body she wants sounds like one of a 12-13 year old girl, minus implants....

not my cup of tea...but there are many girls who do think its the ideal..its from years of images in the media, of course created by men...i took a whole class on this..

wish i could tell you how to help change her mind....

Unfortunately it's MOST women who think this way. By the media glorifying weak starved-looking women, women will try to mold themselves in these images and most likely end up failing or feeling like shit at the very least. A large part of the world's economy depends on the low self-esteem of women, who will spend untold amounts of money trying to "better" themselves.

OK, maybe that's a bit dark and sinister, but I really think society for the most part is afraid of strong women. A lot of lip service is given to women with "inner-strength", but physical strength is still taboo (though improving slowly).

Even within their own gender, women like to keep each other in line - sort of like when you're getting ready to boil a pot of crabs, one tries to crawl out and another one pulls him back in! Any woman in the gym who ventures into the free-weight area will inevitably feel a few eyes upon her (and some like daggers!), by both women and men.

(maybe those crabs are female  ) :D

so true so true, i got a dirty look from a man this past weekend because i was lifting more than him! :D i just laugh it off most of the time, but sometimes, it really bothers me that men can still be bothered by a woman in their "area"

Dirty look :FRlol:! These type of men hate it when we do more with our little smidgen of testosterone than they do when they have 10 TIMES the amount.

I am always getting dirty looks from this one man, and all he ever does is cardio, then a few abs and coupla dumbell curls - yet he seems to think he somehow got short-changed in the genetic lottery

You can change someone’s opinions or likes/dislikes, if she finds the women in magazines ugly/manly looking then fine that’s her prerogative…no need for everyone to get in a hissy, it seems way to many people get upset on here when they find out people share that opinion, either man or woman. That’s her opinion, let it go.

If people look at me, I look back at them and say hi. Nothing like eye contact...

Met alot of spotters that way.

Either that or you make a sarcastic remark that everyone can hear...

"We must be pretty entertaining"

:lmao:

During MY OWN workouts I never talk to anyone but my trainer. Even then, just to answer his questions. I wouldn't know if someone was watching me!

Im the LOUDEST mother-fer in my gym, well me and my training buddy, we are always yelling and screaming across the room...like when someone comes in the door that we know, and we have knicknames for EVERY SINGLE guy and girl in there..we scream at the top of our lungs, ive seen people drop weights from being startled..we also do some funky exercises that no one ever does or has never seen...i mean even stupid simple shit, like last night I decided to do decline skull crushers, and a few guys asked me about it then they tried it and it was like the next best thing to sliced bread for them.

Try doing GVT(German Volume Training) and see how many people stare and wonder WTF is he doing and why is he doing it so SLOW. People stare at us all day long but are so used to us now that we yell and no one even blinks, ive even had some people some up to me and say " you where the hell were you 2 last night, it was so quiet and boring in here".

I know some of you people like to get in and out of the gym and talk to no one, but i like to have a good time, to me working out is fun, for the 15-20 seconds that im doing a set my mind is on one thing and one thing only, the excercise and set at hand, but the rest of the time im having a good time..I think too many people are "hard asses" in the gym, thinking that by looking serious and not making eye contact with other people makes them "hardcore"
