Walking VS Running / Contest Cutting.

I rather get the imput of the people on this board then in the other sections. I recently read an article by Victor Martinez saying that he does 4-5 days of fast pace walking on an incline for 35-40 min as his cardio, once or twice a day to burn as much fat and loose minimal muscle. Everyone at my gym however keeps telling me to start running and it will help more. What do you guys do for cardio to keep as much LBM? (Diet aside)

walking on an incline, ever see someone that runs every day looking jacked?? Dont think so. Running is catabolic. Theres NO pro out there that runs for his cardio. If you can handle a fast paced walk on an incline with a couple dumbells in hand, even better.

I depends on the look you want. You be body buider big and run though.

Each can work finee...You can look up a basic calorie counter and see what types of amount that each excersize burns. you may have to walk a while longer than running, but it still does not matter. If you burn 500 calories while walking, or 500 calories while running, That still amounts to 500 calories, no matter how you look at it.

well i know this, running is HELL on my knees as i have gotten much heavier......i try to walk at 10-15% incline most of my cardio sessions and some days will run for spurts of 2-3 min two or three times in there....man my knees hurt the next day....i just think running has to be hard on the legs if you are over 250lbs

havew the best of both worlds

do the "Guantlet"

the intensity of running with the impact of walking

The human body is designed to walk for long distances without loosing much fat or muscle....this is genetic to all of us considering that the human speces was getting around that way until recently....walking incline is shown to bur almost as many cals as running but if you have anything slower than a normal metabolism running will work much better.
