I'm about to plunk cash for 2 lenses:

Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 EX DG
Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM (can't afford the 2.8 :) )

You might want to try the 85/1.8 - It's an awesome lens and the price is pretty good.
