Quotes takan from Arnies ''Bodybuilding for men'' book 1981: ''research has shown me that bodybuilders need around 100g of protein a day and certainly no more then 150g of protein a day, this gives enough protein for muscle building, without adding unecessary calories to the diet''-- another quote: ''one tip i can give you is not to bulk up or put on extra fat during your training that will only have to dieted off, bodybuilders are opt to do this because being heavier makes them feel bigger, but this is a illusion-the extra weight is not working muscle and it does them no good whatsoever, both franco and i used to approach a contest under our competition weight, and thus had to gain 5 pounds or so in the final week, this meant we didnt have to restrict our diets to much, ending up feeling and looking much better, bulking up i believe is a mistake" so how much protein should a bodybuilder take??Anyone with any comments on this???

The diet advice was for bodybuilders. The book written in 1981-82 and he says, i quote " during my career, i believed a bodybuilder needed as much 200-220g of protein a day in order to devolp the maxium muscle mass, since then my research has shown he needs no more then around 100g and certainly no more then 150g" i dont know what your take is on that. Another thing i noticed was that his training advice in the book seemed way to intense 2day double spilts 6days a week, abs everyday and somebody parts being trained 3times a week. click link to see the book- http://www.applepublishing.com/index.cfm?book=177 -----how much protein should a bodybuilder eat?

By no means am i trying to desrespect arnold, but he is just one bodybuilder, who happens to be a 7 time olympic winner, but still just one bodybuilder. If you follow is exact routine(diet/training/etc..) do you think your gonna be MR.OLYMPIA??? Back in those days, milk was a staple in everyones diet. Times change, and i wonder what kind of research he actually did to come up with such low numbers???? You got to understand he lived and breathed bodybuilding, he had the time to workout take a 2 hr. nap, eat 4 times and train again. it sure as hell worked for him, doesnt mean it will work for you or I. So take the advice from the video for what its worth, emplement it into your routine for a while and see how your body responds. Im not going to say Arnie is wrong, he was obviously right(7X MR.OLYMPIA), but it was right for him and he's specific needs. Your 130, 4 meals with 35g/protein each, youve already surpassed your weight, not very dificult. If you were taking arnolds word, as far as the amount of protein, you would only need to take in 50-60g.

What worked for him (while on heavy doses of juice) is not the ultimate truth for most of us

He may have taken 3 times as much protein or 3 times less protein he would still be way bigger than the average Joe

True, i actually read or heard from one of his videos, cant remember, that the only time he juiced was during his precontest diet. Thats probably how he gained the weight during the final weeks of prep.
