Question on fasted training

Hey guys! Got a question regarding fasted training. Due to current need to work later and work as well as other activities after work, I am forced to start training in the mornings before work (sucks). I know that cardio on an empty stomach works wonders for burning fat stores, but is weight training just as effective? I know it's about calories burned from glycogen stores when it comes to this with cardio, but due to more muscular involvement and strain will I be able to keep up with doing fasted lifting while burning day? Currently I take a serving of bcaa's along with n2amp or even forged burner before workouts. If this is indeed going to work, will I need to add cardio at some point during the week or should I be good just training on an empty stomach.

I have just started getting back into gym (was out for about a month while I was on vacation and moving into my new house) so its been tough to say the least and hopefully diet goes back 100% in a week or 2 (I currently do kit have a kitchen so I am at the mercy of a microwave). I know diet, exercise and rest are all equally important to dropping bodyfat but I am wondering if training on an empty stomach will be ok and not decrease muscle mass too much.

Thanks in advance.

Stats if you want them:
Age - 28
Height - 6'6"
Weight - 245-250lbs
Training - 8 years

I never lift on an empty stomach and I never miss breakfast and I never lift without eating breakfast. You have to think that you will be missing your first anabolic window in the day.

Your two best times to eat are first thing in the morning after fasting and the two meals after working out.

You will end up seeing diminishing results after a while. That is just from my experience.

When I was working out in the early evenings I always had food in me and always had post workout meal or shake. Since I am trying to drop body fat though, wouldn't the fasted training help burn the excess as a means of energy, especially since I am ingesting bcaa's before training.

You will be burning glycogen stores in your muscles that have to be replenished with calorie stores but this comes at the cost of lowering your metabolism.

Lifting on an empty stomach causes you to burn blood sugar. When this happens your mind tells your metabolism to slow down because it thinks the body is starving..

So for the first couple of weeks you will lose weight very little of it will be fat but over a long period of time it will only diminesh becuase you are slowing down your metabolism.

There is one way to burn fat and lose weight. Process and burn more calories than what you take in.

There are two ways to do this. One is through calorie defecit through intense physical excersise and the other is through creating a defecit with your metabolism.

Eat before your lift. Eat after. This will increase your metabolism throughout the day and it is what is going to keep you in a fat burning range.

Thanks guys. So would taking in a protein shake before hand work to help prevent these adverse effects?

I train fasted wen prepping for a show sub 8% bf of course. But overall depending on ur goals if ur in a calorie surplus u will gain weight and in a defecit u will lose weight. People who say eating more frequently increases metabolism are right to an extent, ur metabolism increases minutely(roughly 1%) to help with the digestion of food but it's not gonna increase enough to make it a purposeful way to burn calories. Doesn't make sense in an evolutionary stand point either. Honestly just eat wen u can and eat towards ur goals don't worry about this anabolic window bullshit cause that's exactly wat it is

You are going to hear a lot of people saying to not do weight training in the fasted state, and there is nothing wrong with that, but I will give you the other side of the coin.

There is a lot of benefits to doing fasted training (including weight training) that debunks a lot of old school myths about what your body needs before and after a workout, as well as throughout the day.

I do intermittent fasting, and part of that is fasted training. As long as you are taking BCAAs before and after your workouts, you will keep protein synthesis going, but will reap the benefits of the fasted training including increasing insulin sensitivity. Then when you do eat 2-4 hours after your workout there will be a huge anabolic event and your insulin will spike utilizing your nutrients from food more efficiently and effectively.

I've been doing this a long time, and have gotten bigger, stronger, and LEANER than ever by doing so.
