Question about beer..lol

so ur tellin me u never EVER drank one beer, or went to a bar with ur buddies?

lol heck no. I'm in college; going dry isn't an option. What I will do, though, is if I know I'm partying a given weekend, I'll try and do my workout thursday evening, so two days elapse before saturday's drinking. Also when I drink I don't get plastered, just tipsy. Of course, it's no-holds-barred boozing when I take my 2 weeks off after each HST cycle. :D

I've made the mistake of drinking what I would consider a reasonable and safe amount under normal circumstances, only a few hours after a big workout. It messed me up big-time. Multiplied all of the bad effects from alcohol.

I rarely drink these days. Its a bit pointless. I do enjoy a nice beer or two with dinner when I'm away on holidays, and have the occasional party (maybe twice a year) with friends where I have a few more - but nothing close to being drunk. All in all, I'm not much of a big drinker. When I turned 18 I had way too many big nights getting drunk, and I'm glad it was a phase that passed very quickly.

I've been known to have a few beers from time to time and it doesn't affect me much at all. The ONLY thing that I notice is that it does tend to dehydrate me quite a bit.

Before I go out...I drink a few large glasses of water. Every 2-4 beers that I have...I'll have another glass of water. Before I leave the bar...I'll have 2-4 glasses of water. Of course...when I come home I'll have more water and either some PowerAde/Gatorade or Pedialyte.

Decreases test levels??? I'm really not sure who thought this up. Your body only creates so much test in the first place...VERY little to be exact (especially when compared to what actual body builders are taking).

My point is this...

You sit at home and do nothing and get bored...OR...You go out with some friends and have 2-8 beers and get some good laughs in. The fun and laughs are worth more than the sitting at home and reserving that extra natural test that you 'might' have made.

There's no shortage of people who have problems performing in the bedroom as a result of drinking and its effects on test levels...

I still go out with friends when the opportunity arises, but I'm the designated driver. You still get to have the laughs and the like, plus you're doing everybody else a favour and looking after your body at the same time.

I think it can hurt or be neutral, if your used to drinking it will have a less effect on your training imo, hydration is the main factor I've noticed. Actually last Sunday at a friends I drank and had a max effort pr on Monday morning. I drank 10 beers and a forty of St' Ides(don't ask). Now I do drink to much but I'm used to it so I know to down water . Eventually I'll phase out the beer. Oh and the pr was a 835 reverse blue band pull.

Couldnt have been said better ;)

I am actually the KING of having 1 beer and calling it a night...:)

I have had quite a few before though...but I guess at a bigger bodyweight I should be able to drink more and it not affect me.
