Grocery list look like? I am for the first time gonna try a serious cutting diet. My thoughts are it all starts with the shopping and I am clueless since I am an impusle buyer. I never have a grocery list. I want to plan this all right the first time. I have been compiling information for a couple of weeks now and its time to grocery shop but I don't know what to buy. :p .

Any suggestions  .

I know the basics and I know what I should eat but I am sure some of you buy more than chicken and oatmeal. Where do I start?

I'm a minimalist. Chicken, turkey, salmon, eggs, oatmeal, flax oil (my grocery store actually carries it), broccoli, spinach, sweet potatoes, sometimes edamame, garlic, Crystal Lite, sugar free Jell-o and generic Perrier.

I would start with a diet first - get an idea of how many cals & what % split you want - so you can go from there to determine how much and WHAT foods you will eat on most days to make that up.

My cutting diet was (every day):
oatmeal
egg whites
turkey burgers with ground turkey breast & chopped onions
brown rice
frozen veggies
sweet potatoes
canned tuna
soy milk for protein shakes post WO
variable dinner- chicken, fish, more turkey, sometimes lean beef or shrimp & scallops.

I have an awesome spreadsheet I made up to carry around & so I don't have to log on to fitday.com to calculate anything (so I know where my macro nutrients stand if I eat something different). I'd be happy to send it if you PM me.

i go to the store to buy the same things basically EOD, if i need anything other then my regular list, i always forget it..lol

I stick to chicken, turkey, tuna, brown rice, sweet potatos, and water.:)

mine is pretty standard week-to-week...

chicken breast
canned tuna
steak
whatever fish is on sale (usually salmon, swordfish, tuna steaks or cod)
eggs
sometimes cottage cheese
spinach
cherry tomatoes
green beans
brussel sprouts
asparagus
broccoli
olive oil
crystal light
oatmeal
sf/ff jam to put in my oatmeal
sf/ff pudding to put in my post w/o protein shakes (only a tablespoon or so...BTW butterscotch + cinnamon + malto in a vanilla shake is incredible! :p )
rice or sweet potatoes every now & then
some natty pb whenever i get cravings

good luck with your diet!!!

Wow, thank you ladies, This will help me soo much.

I only see one thing missing on these list Strawberry Margarita's:p . But I guess I will have to leave that out for the next 6-weeks anyway. :bawling: . But I am sure My results will be worth it:D .

I'm not cutting, but my usual grocery list is like this:

a) visit to Iceland (frozen food store here in the UK): 2-3 bags of frozen chicken breasts, usually 8 per bag, several bags of frozen green veggies, some lamb grillstreaks (hubby loves these), hadock fillets (cod is currently overfished, so I am buying haddock instead), and sometimes a pizza :).

b) Tescos (supermarket): lots of the cheapo tuna, brown rice, potatoes, porridge oats (plenty of choice of these in Scotland!), wholemeal bread (for hubby), salad vegetables, bananas (excellent post-workout snack), semi-skimmed milk (compromise with husband on this), COFFEE, Diet Coke with Lemon (mmmmm), cream cheese or cheddar cheese (not for me, for Miles). Steak.

c) Indian store: patak's pickles and curry pastes, fuul beans or kidney beans (hubby makes a mean fuul madamas), various other tasty eats and spices. Harissa, mmmmm. Also occasionally 5 litre can of extra virgin olive oil.

d) newsagents on the corner: cheat foods like cookies, marshmallows and the like. Milk.

I just say, hey, carbs are necessary for powerlifting and get the cookies once a week or so....

Get the frozen chicken breasts and either grill several every evening or do them all at the weekend and freeze them individually. Then you just need to defrost a few every morning. Tuna is great fast food but it can end up tasting like shit if you don't eat something else with it (patak's pickles for me).

Thanks circusgirl, I also get the frozen chicken but I have a hard time keeping it moist when cooking it in advance. How do you keep it from drying out?
