Radar, I do have a weighted speed rope I used to use between sets back when I did that sort of thing. I still bring it with we whenever I travel and have broken it out in many an empty hotel conference room.

I love that thing and had kinda forgotten about it -- the ceilings here aren't quite high enough but I should throw it back in my gym bag! Thanks for the reminder.

Mitch... I don't think you wanna play double Dutch with a heavy speed rope but I'm happy to swing it if you wanna try.

I love to jump rope! It's a great cardio exercise to break up the monotony of regular cardio days. I'll have to try a weighted one; thanks so much for this...you rawk!!

I just woke up from a weird dream and figured I'd check in until it dissipated. I have missed posting regularly this week but it's been really busy and I have been doing HIIT in the morning now, so FC will appreciate that wind sprints really aren't conducive to thumb-typing.

My body is definitely feeling the strain of increased workouts and decreased food. I took tonight off to catch up on some sleep and I'm gonna get back to that now but I guess I just wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to check in.

Just wanna say also that it is exhausting traveling around for interviews and I just kind of want to be in the same place for a little while and settle into a routine. I don't see that happening for a few months, but I do need to try to keep the unnecessary travel to a minimum. I tend to bite off more than I can chew.

Ok, girls... I'm racking out (again). Thinking of you all. Keep it up! Take care of yourselves!

Thought of u during yesterday's cardio sesh. Thought maybe I should take my phone along and watch videos or something to entertain myself while on the eliptical. Then I thought: "nope, even typing a few search terms to find good vids will certainly land me in a face plant. I don't know how cutie does it." :)

well i got me a weighted jump rope ,i was itching to try it, my regilar one i could do a good 8 minutes on it non stop ,and that was a really decent cardio scession, so i tried my new one, GAG!!! after 2 minutes i felt like barfing! I felt like i was back in boot camp! a man,did i sleep that night after doing 4 2 min scessions!Cutie Thanks I had no idea there were weighted ones out there!

HIIT time again. Gotta stop dragging my feet on this. I make it so much worse with the procrastination two-step. Generally once I get going I have the thought "this is what I was avoiding?"

There's something about getting ones heart rate up to the 180s that seems intimidating from the couch. We forget the endorphins that will be there to carry us through. We forget that there is enjoyment in movement.

This is especially easy to forget if, like me, you have a history of somewhat masochistic exercise. I never used to "warm up" but these days find a more gentle transition from 0 to "all out" to be a little kinder.

I am going to be so black and blue tomorrow and I don't care how it looks as long as I can do my workouts without injury. Since waking about an hour ago with familiar tightness in the muscles surrounding my right hip, I've been stretching, massaging, etc... But it maybe got a little more aggressive than it should have and I'm an easy bruiser. Lol

The truth is, I know I can't make up for months of neglect with one impatiently delivered rehab session, but I'm stupid and tired enough to have tried! Pretty much just Rolfed myself... Hurt so good! :(

This could go either way. I'll know in the morning. For now I know I need more sleep.

I am just under 10 weeks out...Pic is from this morning (about an hour ago).

Definitely sore on waking up but a lot better range of motion. Gonna start slow with cardio and see how it feels. Definitely no treadmill.

Thanks, Cali... Secretly, I'd like to do both but I don't know how likely that is. It all depends what happens to the delts as I cut... So far they're hanging on so I'm leaning toward figure.

Figure is definitely the goal.

Plank, tho... To answer your question the divisions are similar but differ in muscle mass (figure typically has a little more), body fat (figure typically has a little less), posing and presentation.

I attached a couple photos below of "typical" of each category, but there is a lot of room for interpretation. The pro level bikini category is only a few years old so it's kind of still being defined. Depending on the organization and individual contest, bikini winners can range from emaciated to fairly jacked.

A lot of it comes down to the posing and attitude -- you can get a sense of this on YouTube.
 
In my fourth reply to my own thread it will become apparent that I'm doing steady state cardio. Lol.

First of all, my apologies for inconsistencies of late. Secondly, thanks for all the well-wishes re last night's uncomfortable slumber. I did manage to release the offending hip but spent the majority of the day avoiding re-impacting the whole shebang....

Carrying my grocery basket, doing intervals this morning, carrying some books and a laptop, moving plates during my lift... These movements all required a certain level of concentration in order to avoid more substantially injuring myself.

Long ago, in a lifetime that feels extremely removed from my current reality, I spent a few years as a yoga teacher. Yes, really. Today it became quickly apparent how far removed from that lifestyle my body has become... And how, even though I don't want the whole deal back, I might serve myself by incorporating some of the self-care techniques.

Ok, I'm gonna stop rambling. Just sayin' now that I'm not working quite so much in my day job, maybe I can stretch more, get more sleep, foam roll, massage, before I wake up with pain in the middle of the night. Seems logical.
 
Obviously hard to say without seeing full pics but I think you should aim for figure too. Your conditioning is really good for 10 weeks out and depending on the org and level of the competition, you could probably do well in a physique too, based on conditioning vs size.

I would say a lot of it is in your head. :) Personally, I'd save my money on the bf test, unless it will give you peace of mind. I'm a non plat scum so can only see the small pic but you have amazing conditioning for being 10 weeks out and your bf looks pretty low. I would definitely aim for figure. I think you'll come in too hard for bikini and you would do very well in figure. I know the organizations can vary slightly with judging criteria and requirements. I always go and look at the websites to see the pics of who won the categories at the most recent contests in the orgs I'm in...get some idea of what the judges are awarding the top spots to.

No matter what, you are in an amazing position for your timeline. The mind games will only get worse as you go, especially if you have any sort of "pre-morbid" self critical thoughts. If that makes any sense?!? lol Whenever you feel that negativity, I'd make sure to check in with someone or check in here. The outside, non biased opinion can really make a difference in dealing with our own self doubt, especially if it's coming from someone who has an understanding of where you need to be to get where you want to be.

Stay strong, keep killing it and you'll be amazed at how much can happen in 10 weeks. :)

I could estimate the bodyfat of anyone else from 20 ft away and give a pretty good number 9/10 times but for myself I'm completely blind. Hence the posting ;p

I will keep you guys updated. Progress is very hard to see from the trees... I feel like I'm watching paint dry and it can be very frustrating considering how much time and effort goes into the process.

It is SO helpful to have you and the others here. No one I get to see regularly "IRL" really gets it... Most of them don't understand why I want to do the sport at all let alone have an appreciation for the nuances between categories.

Anyway, thanks again. Your help is very very appreciated.

I got one too, man what a challenge! The arms were burning after only a couple minutes. CB you are an animal! Keep up the hard work ;)

Hey Buds...

Just wanted to check in. About to hit the hay after a really chaotic and emotional week. So glad it is over, as terrible as that sounds.

I tried to stay on track as much as possible but my training definitely took a back seat. This is really unusual for me, as I'm usually of the "no excuses/take no prisoners" mindset. I had to be there for my family, though... It was the right thing to do.

Landed a couple of hours ago. Put the kabbosh on the dietary indiscretions and just finished up on the treadmill now to finish the day on a positive.

Crushed shoulders this morning. They are finally coming in a little ;p will have pics up once I shake some of this bloat... Let me just string some good days together. So looking forward to some routine, structure, normal daily livin'. See you in the AM!
