I need a new barbell for home gym. Not sure where would be best to look and what even want. Mine are destroyed. Want something with good grip because often weakest point for me. I do some olympic lifts along with deads, squats etc. I have matting and rubber plates. So it will get some hard use. Heaviest poundage will see is probably 650 some for a deadlift.

Most decent sporting goods outfits sell 45lb standard olympic bars for pretty cheap. They had a entire set w/ 2 plates of every weight w/ the olympic bar for $179 at Academy Sporting goods last wkend. U could probably ebay one for super cheap too. Oh wait, are u asking for brands?

Yeah a brand might be good. Looked at local stores around here but mostly cheaper ones that don't think would hold up as well.

The only bar you must have for all purpose heavy duty lifting is a Texas power bar. You will get a bar that can take some serious abuse and keeo going with no problem. Its a good idea to keep a cheap bar around for rack rulls, shruggs, and things like that. This is a top quality bar that you can use for anything, but letting it get bent from dropping it in a rack can get expensive. Elitefts sells them and a few others sell them also. Id look around to find a good deal on one. You can buy several cheap bars or one good bar its up to you. The grip on it is outstanding also. The only bar ive seen with a better grip is the Q bar, both of these bars are ipf legal and used in competition. You can also buy an Ivanko bar and weight set, if you have a couple grand you dont need laying around.
