Well guys joined the 500+ squat club today. Took about five years off from powerlifting to pursue that bodybuilding thing. Am just now getting back into the groove of things. After screwing up an ankle and a shoulder this past winter have progressed nicely. Have taken squat from barely getting 315 in april to 505 today with belt and knee wraps. Deads have gone from low 400's to upper 500's lower 600's will be testing that next week. Also have returned to the 400 club on bench after tearing my left pec a few years ago. I am just now starting to get into powerlifting again and am remembering the joy it brought me. Would like to thank you guys for the advice you post and I am sure I will be seeking more info soon. Planning on competing next summer and hopefully getting around an 1800 total. At my current rate of gains this should be possible. Also think I may treat myself to a squat suit for christmas. After that things will hopefully get real freaky. Well thanks again guys and will be talking to you soon.

Glad to hear it bro, I too once tried that bodybuilding thing and I must say it was not what its cracked up to be. I hated it. Im not really a powerlifter either because I dont do full meets. Im a bench presser so I guess that makes me 1/3 powerlifter.

Good to hear bro. Gains are what make us train. Not the mirror! But i will warn ya the progress does slow down a bit. At least it did for me. And yes treat your self to an inzer hardcore suit!

Thanks guys.
solidj55- Yeah the bodybuilding thing was fun and all but didn't like watching what I eat all the time. I like the feeling of lifting heavy and getting stronger better than looking good. ]

Jay- Hopefully the gains will keep up for a while. Good suggestion on the hardcore suit I have been eyeing that for a while now. Was also going to get their squat and deads shoes but they only go up to 13. Oh well will find some somewhere.

Dude how tall are you? Or do you just have huge feet! Just get some wrestling shoes to pull in, and good tennis shoes to squat. I am not a big chuck taylor all star fan. They work i just dont like they way i squat in em. I just squat in what i wear. Currently iii am in the 2002 model nike boink. Ya know the ones with the red springs in the back. III can finally say that i found a pair i dont squat good in. But my las t nikes air max worked greatr for me hit PR"S in em all year.

Jay I am only 6'2" but wear a size 14 shoe. I currently lift in an old pair of nike airs. They seem to be fairly stable I just would like something with a little more ankle support. The big foot thing is kind of nice for balance though. Will probably just get some wrestling shoes, thanks for the input.

I wear a 16-17 shoe and plan to get some chuck taylors soon. They are $34, come in black, and have them in my size.

B true- thanks for the advice will look into that. Do you find that having bigger feet helps with balance on the plifts. If I remember right you are about the same height as me right?

I am 6'2" or so. Feel free to email me anytime. I would love to help.
