Heard back from Bruce who is promoting that show here in town in June. He will send me some info out by mail.

He was my gym teacher in High School -- intro'd me to weights. He remembers me after 18 years!! LOL

He mentioned he is doing another show here locally in Sept. Since I have so much to learn -- that might be a better fit for me. It will give me plenty of time to check out his show & Sassy's show to give me some ideas on what's involved, to talk to some people in the know & maybe hook up with a local Figure gal or BB gal. Plus, less stress as it will give me time to get a suit, shoes, tan, nails, etc.... Plus I can get Shadow to test my bf% in ATL to see where I really am & where I really need to go.

In the meantime -- I'm going to try to start giving something up per week. Like coffee, the 1 nite of alcohol, snacks, etc & add in morning cardio when my Cardio Breeze gets here.

Now -- to decide on BB or Figure??

Hey Jen,

I thought about you this weekend. I saw an ad w/ a list of shows coming up. One is in Delaware in June and D.C. in August. There is a show in October in Baltimore that I'm thinking about doing. There are three competitions for these shows, bb, figure, and fitness. I have ruled out fitness because I'm not going to cartwheel for anybody.

I've started looking at my diet as well. Since I'm not taking any classes, this summer will be perfect to begin an intense diet and training program. When I get back from ATL, I will look over my program and make some decisions. The Oct. show will give me almost 21 weeks to train - which is plenty of time. So, if I decide to do this, you will have a training partner going through it with you.

My 2 cc's worth.....and it just echos everyone else...

clean the diet now....train hard and see where you land...shoot for show in 9 weeks....see how much you improve by then...THEN decise at 3-4 weeks if you want to by-pass it

For me, the June show is too soon. Bruce said he's doing a Natural show Sept. 24th. I think that'll be a better fit for me. Plenty of time!!

I'm going to go see the June show here to see if I can get to know some locals.

And I'm so uncoordinated -- I could never do Fitness.

That's a good idea.....

I'm just trying to avoid feeling "stressed" about my diet -- that makes me "cheat" & binge....so it's a big mental game for me....

It'll be GREAT having NYC on board too....I won't be alone...

Oh cool!!

Psst -- check out my log -- got my bf tested this weekend.... :worried:

To start -- my goals this week are to give up alcohol entirely (after tonite) & add in 2-3 days of CV in the am.... :worried:

welcome to the game jen! A huge part of it is just getting your mind around the commitment and managing the progress & the momentary freak-outs. No matter what you do you can be very proud of your accomplishments and you will definitely have learned more about the amazing things your body can do as well as the stuff you never thought you would do in the name of "body beautiful"!

Honestly, that's the hardest part for me -- the mental part....

I want to try a goal of "giving up" 1 or 2 things a week, diet soda HAS to be the last -- maybe coffee too....

I'm gonna need everyone's support -- so NEVER, EVER log off...LOL :p

Its hilarious actually. You go thru phases of denial, like "God, I could never live w/o Diet Coke" and stuff like that. But when it comes down to it, you either do a show or you don't. There's no room for cheats & getting sloppy because it will show on stage that you aren't ready. That is the one thing about body-oriented competition. It is literally 24/7 training and a huge part of it is the mental part. Maintaining a balance in your life, dealign w/ the people around you and the sacrifices they have to make to fit your crazy ddiet & training, etc. etc etc. But if you have faith in what you are doing, keep yoru eye on the prize and both watch & listen to your body, you will have accomplished something that will be among the top 5 things in your life.
