Too Much Cardio???

Just curious. I joined a new gym and they have this elliptical croos country skiing thing similar to a nortic trak but more circular motion. I did it for an hour non stop today and it says I burned 980 cals. You use you arms and feet so i dont think this is so unreallistic, I was moving pretty rapidly, but I think i could have gone another 30 mins. Question is if I do this once a day like 6-7 days a week (thats like burning 6000-7000 cals a week just from cardio) will this help shed off the fat or is it all about diet. I know diet is important but most people dont burn 7000 cals a week just from their cardio workout. Is this burning muscle??? I am 5'8 175 have great cardio endurance, just about 16-18% BF. trying to cut down to see my abs for the first time. Will this accomplish this or hurt me more. when I get to 8-10 BF then I will go on a bulking cycle. Also, should you still consume 1-2 grms of protein per lb of bodyweight on a cutting cycle??? Input appreciated.

Also, I retain water like a camel. Any herbs or supps other than AS that can help???
THANKS

P.S. I know its not an AS induced question, but you guys are the pros whether AS is involved or not.

Well that machine lied to you, but they are good for cardio. If trying to shed b.f%do 30-60 min on an empty stomach and wait an hour to consume anyfood afterwards...Also if you hold alot of water gut carbs because for every carb you eat your body holds 4 grams of water.

if you're trying to lose fat, definatly keep cardio as part of your program. if you're skinny and just need to gain muscle, you don't need cardio that much. In your case, keep the cardio. the muscle trade off is miniscule compared to the good you'll be doing for your respitory system.

No that's not to much cardio.............I like those machines as well. But IMO the best thing for cardio is to walk at a face pace on the treadmill with a 7-8% incline for 60 minutes. When I'm cutting I do this 6 days a week, twice a day. Just make sure your are eating clean meals, and try to eat at least 5 times a day taking in at least 40-50 grams of protein for each meal. Stay on this schedule for a couple months and you'll be amazed at the results. They key is to have a well balanced diet. If you do decide to cut carbs, cut back on the cardio or you will start to burn away muscle. I'm no expert by any means, I'm just sharing with you what works for me. Good luck in getting your bf% down.

Well, thanks for the motivation fellas. (one of the reasons I am addicted to this board). unexpected and appreciated. You all know how cutting goes. I figure since I am not to flabby, strict diet and major cardio will help me shed some excess BF. That way I can start bulking up in Jan. (only for three months though, gotta look good for summer, then slim down again). I think once I get into the get big in winter get smaller in spring/summer, it will get easier and more of "habitual". All my BF is around my midsection. My legs are hard and a little smaller than i'd like so I have that misproportuniate parenthesis shape ( ). Its not that bad I mean I can see the outline of my upper abs, but lowers and lovehandles are horrible. Thinking of trying Yomimbe HCL, heard that your body always looks to the most liquid form of body fat to burn first. Y HCL is suppose to liquify fat based on transdermal gel and area of application. Who knows, we'll see. I am taking some b4 and afters so i will post when applicable. Thanks for answering my protein while cutting question NEO.

Anyone think of any supps to help retain less water. I know I should cut back on salt/sodium, but anything else???

THANKS
