question about PB diet

is it possible to modify the ANPB diet by eating the PB only for certain meals?
As long as your carbs stay under 100g/day and your fats/proteins are proportional you should see similar results right?

I'm just worried that after a few days I'll get really sick of PB and I'd like to mix in some eggs or Chx salads, etc.

Also, is any fiber supplementation recommended or is there enough in the PB?

Finally, with the whey, I usually mix it with about 8oz of skim milk, should I go w/water instead?

I'm looking to cut about 15-20 lbs (currently 6'2, 220, 13%bf)
If this diet will drop about 2 pounds a week I'm all in.

Sound reasonable?

Assuming you could maintain the proper macro-nutrient ratios - you may see similar results. But obviously, the further you modify the diet, you run the risk of straying from the path so to speak. The brilliance of the plan is its simplicity!!

There's more than enough fiber in the PB alone. Further supplementing shouldn't be necessary.

Definitely go with water.

i can't really answer for mr.x, but i know some other people have asked about subsituting in other foods for the PB, such as almond or cashew butter and he had said to stick with the PB. the only modification he gave was subsituting flax for 10% of the daily PB intake. now i know your question is a little different, but i'm guessing you'd get the same response.

you could always modify it, since that's your choice. but he has set it up the way it is because not only are you getting healthy fats + fiber + some protein from the PB, but also it's a very simplistic diet that is easy to follow and many people eat natty PB like they would a dessert. if you start modifying it, you may lose out on some of those healthy fats, depending what you replace the PB with, and fiber intake could become lower.

as far as fiber, this was also covered. he said there was no need for extra fiber since there will be enough in the PB. again though, mr.x will have to answer this, as i'm not trying to speak for him.

as far as milk, it's a no no when cutting, since it's mostly sugar (13g per 8oz, while only 8 g of protein). you'd be better off getting the extra protein from your powder. i assume though that you want to add it for taste? you could always trying blending in your natty PB with water and the protein powder, and adding some splenda and see how that works. alot of people seem to like that as long as the protein powder is chocolate.

I agree, the simplicity here is awesome, I don't want to mess too much but a little variety here and there might keep me sane.

I'm addicted to diet soda, will aspartame keep me out of ketosis?
I know it affects some people more than others, is there a way to know how it would affect someone on this type of diet?

thanks for your feedback!

No way of being 100% certain without a blood glucose meter. But ketostix might give you an indication (although they aren't always reliable). If you notice that you aren't making progress like you think you should - that would be something you might want to begin eliminating.

Usually it's a matter of experimentation and playing around with things. Good luck.

All I know is that my body didn't like it. I had to drop it :(. I'm still using ANPB and Protein as much as possible, but I was having horrible headaches and feeling very tired on this thing, BUT I didn't give it very long. I have to take the LSAT this Saturday so I can't risk feeling sick when I take it.

I think I'm going to give it another whirl later on. The next time I do this its going to be an all "liquid" diet in that I'm going to try and mix as much ANPB into my shake as possible.

dont mean to hijack the thread, but what about adding celery to each PB meal. i dont know how you people stomach PB alone, i def need something along with it. what do u think:

Celery, raw

Go crazy with the celery. You'd be hard pressed to eat enough to sabatoge the diet.

You can also mix the PB in with your whey. Are you doing that already?

Actually, the ANPB is AWESOME. I had never tried it until I attempted the diet. DEFINATELY add it to your Whey. It'll make even the worst tasting shakes taste good :)
