need to lose a few inches off the waist

its weird, i have good definition all over my body except my mid section. it sux alot. anyway, i fit pretty comfy in a 34 waist, but i have a pair of 30's i wanna fit into that i havent worn for years. i never really stuck to a cardio plan and i dont want that super shredded look. just lose some fat and maintain my strength and muscle mass. my diet is pretty much protein (red meat, whey, fish, eggs, dairy and some chicken) complex carbs (potatos, oats and pastas) and the good fats (olives, peanuts etc) but for snacks ill eat a tombstone pizza or a huge ass sub or fast foods. so, if i cut all that garbage out, up the protein, lower the carbs a bit, and do cardio 3x a week for 4-6 weeks, will i get the results im looking for? did i miss anything?

Probably going to have to lay out your actual diet/amounts/diet for on and off days, etc. Not much to draw from here, as our guess is as good as your's.

I can't offer much but I saw you mentioned patatoes. Patatoes have a high GI value which in turn raises cortisol levels which inhibits fat-burning. It may be something you might want to look into.

yams!!! sweet potatos instead of the damn white ones...lol
oh and im sure if u lower ur carbs, cut out the fast food, and pasta u would lose around the midsection...cardio does help...but abs are made in the kitchen not the gym...good luck

so whats the best way to blunt the cortisone levels?

Hmm, the best I'm not sure. But the most effective is probably AS. I know that's not what most people are willing to do. There are some suppliments that supposedly reduce cortisol release. They contain Phosphatidylserine (PS). Do a search on google and you can find quite a bit about it. I've never tried it myself but there have been studies using it.

As said before, potatoes/pastas are high GI carbohydrates. A better carb source would be multigrains (oats, like you listed) and vegetables (preferably the green vibrous kind).

Losing 4 inches in 4-6weeks seems like youre pushing it a bit though - unless you're willing to sacrifice ample amounts of muscle, or plan to deplete yourself of all your subcutaneous water.
