Jenscats Road to Recovery Log

I drove today!!! For the first time in about 23 days.....

Hubby came home this afternoon & he rode with me while I took the truck down the Riverfront parking lot & around the city a bit.....I did well - did some hard breaking, drove in some traffic to practice switching my foot back & forth from gas to brake......

I am having some pain, however, but not while driving......walking around & working on my extension causes more pain which is isolated to the meniscus area......

WOO HOO!!!!!
:) That's great jens !!!

Congrats on the driving all around the town! Sounds like your still on that SPEEEEEEEEDY road of recovery!!! :garza:

Jens, I'm proud of you...great job. Be smart with your freedom, and keep working hard on the extension. Let the nastiness of the prone leg hang be your motivator.

Awesome news...keep it up! :) :friends:

OH believe me, it is!!

Got +1 lag & 123 degrees flex/bend today at PT and I was able to drive myself to & from PT, no problems.....Homework is to work on my extension (straightening) as well as stretching the hamstring.....

They also told me I'm permitted to ride the stationary bike at the gym if I'd like & for as long as I want, provided I don't have pain.....still no closed-chain exercises - so no leg work for me.....I'm also able to pedal forward on the stationary bike immediately now without the rocking warmup......Oh and I can walk UP stairs like a normal person - but going down causes pain in the kneecap - so Noel wants me to go down the stairs 1 at a time.....

Edit: I also have to work on teaching myself to walk normally, ie properly again.....NO gimping, limping, etc.....

Might head to the gym on Sunday for a ride!!

I'm tired & my quad is tired..... :sleep2:

Its so cool to see the progress jen! Its a drag getting thru it, but its so cool to make those achievements back to "normal". Congrats!

So really there's an off chance you might actualy "enjoy" that bike ride hey? (Noting most of us hate cardio, but when you can't do it, all of a sudden its pretty cool...)

Yes, I have a feeling I will enjoy it....because once I couldn't do cardio - I wanted to.....plus doing it will help keep my knee "limber."

I think beginning to be able to move around more via exercising will also help me with the Restless Leg & Foot issues I've been having as well as the hip pain....

Oh and it's amusing to see how "thin" my leg looks....yuck!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Jens!!! Thats great to hear that your able to implement cardio again and make it up the stairs! Congrats on the progress you have already made!
